AC takes the Plunge.

It was an uh-mazing event which wouldn’t be possible without our special guests Jensen and The Flips, Autotelic, MilesExperience, and Lola Amour. Making it more uh-mazing is that this event is for the benefit of Teach Peace Build Peace Movement.

To my two best buddies for life, both of you were already there for me since I was three years old. Both of you were there by my side as I grew up. Both of you saw me on my best and even on my worst, because my two best buddies for life were the ones I go to, to share my victories and defeats. Looking back, I will always treasure those moments I shared with the both of you, most specially when I was a kid. Even if I put a nail polish on your nails, both of you couldn’t say "no", because that's how much you love me. Both of you really know how childish and immature I am. Despite of all my flaws, I can feel that I am accepted, and that's the reason why I have felt that I'm really loved. Those childhood memories I have wouldn't be that good without both of you. Now that both of you were gone; I will, and will always be grateful that I felt that I am loved by my dogs. I couldn't wait for the next moment on which I can smell, feel and touch your wet nose and open your mouths again just to see your cute little teeth. I couldn't wait to spend time again to play with both of you. I'm going to miss all those little silly things both of you did. There are no good byes, but let me say “until we meet again." It is because for me, what we have is FOREVER. Keep in mind that the both of you will always be my BEST BUDDIES FOR LIFE; and that won’t change. To my love, my happiness, and my sweetest downfall, thank you! Thank you for the awesome 16 years we have shared together. I love you both… ALWAYS and FOREVER, until our next journey, my buddies!

DOT/DTI/DOST: The Role of Government in Encouraging Entrepreneurial Spirit

DOST (Department of Science and Technology) under Executive Order No. 128 mandates the Department to “provide central direction, leadership and coordination of scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the results there from are geared and utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefits for the people. One of DOST’s service agencies created by virtue of Executive No. 128; major thrust is to promote the commercialization of technologies and market the services of other operating units/agencies of the Department; and mandated to provide grant and venture financing assistance for new and emerging projects and technical consultancy services. As of July 2017, the unemployment rate is 4.7% and underemployment rate is 18% in which with these Philippine Statistics, DOST established a program which is called DOST Academe Technology-Based Enterprise Development (DATBED) program, this is one of the TAPI programs that effectively creates and establishes technology-based enterprises nationwide and trains students and young professionals to become an Entrepreneur and Employer.

For DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) which the speaker is Mr. Edwin Cabral Pasahol, MDM The Role of Government in Encouraging Entrepreneurial Spirit started with Life Planning, for a simple dream it includes your dream house which could be worth as 2 million, dream education for kids for 2 million, dream car amounting to 1.5 million and dream vacation worth 500 thousand. But in reality if an employee has a Monthly income of 10 thousand amounting to 120 thousand annual income in which this employee needs to save for 50 years to get his/her simple dream amounting to 6 million. This person in order to have his/her simple dream has two choices: He/She must shrink dreams to fit the size of Income or Challenge to grow and make a change, increase income to fit the size of your dreams. And since the unemployment and underemployment rate is now increasing, DTI supports MSMEs. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, despite the overwhelming presence of it in Philippine opportunities to improve are still enormous. MSMEs play a major role in the country’s economic development.

For DOT (Department of Tourism) which the speaker is Assistant Secretary Allegre. We Filipinos are persevere; we study well and take risks. Since Philippines have a lot of good resources, we tend to be resourceful. And to make the best out of the resources we are given. The speaker presented a video in which it has a tagline that says, “When you're with Filipinos, you're with Family." This DOTs, “When you're with Filipinos, you're with Family." This is the key message of the Department of Tourism that seeks to highlight unique Filipino traits that make a tourist's say "more fun in the Philippines."

DOST Academe Technology-Based Enterprise Development (DATBED) program could train students in enterprise development by providing them access to funds, facilities and technologies for technology-based enterprises. And to foster stronger linkages by tapping available technical services, expertise and facilities in establishing technology based income-generating projects. This aims to develop entrepreneurial competencies among students, young professionals including out of school youths in selected academic institutions and non-governmental organizations while at the same time creating income generating projects for the involved institutions. It is giving a chance to the dreamers which financial problems hinder their success.

DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) in encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, since MSMEs play a major role in the country’s economic development they are contributing in rural development and decentralization, creation of employment opportunities and more equitable income distribution. It can also make use of indigenous resources instead of setting them aside. It could also create the backward and forward linkages with existing industries including large enterprises and also entrepreneurial development which would help the business to grow and stay in a long term. DOTs campaign, “When you're with Filipinos, you're with Family,” shows how a Filipino can be unique in our own little ways. As the Tourist Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo has said that, everybody has beaches, everybody can go shopping, you can eat anywhere... but it's the Filipinos that are different. We have to show that. It should answer the question, “Why is it more fun in the Philippines?” Philippines don’t only have good places that should be visited but Filipinos have the traits that they should have to focus on.

As a business student and a soon businesswoman, I should make things happen. Not only to market, produce, and innovate products. But do something that could help other people to also grow. Because growing without helping is not successful at all. Since the unemployment rate and underemployment rate is gradually increasing, this can also be an opportunity to help them and to make business which you can get from the pool of applicants. And for now, what I could do is to envision a good future, help in sustainability, and be a youth prioritizing the good for our beloved country.
