I was SO MAD about there being no bicycles in the previous episode that I paid very close attention to Season 8 Episode 6 that I spotted the barely visible only bike in the background within the first ten minutes.
That’s it being walked over the chaps shoulder on the right hand side.
Season 8 Episode 4 has an actress I know from Happy Valley (Julia Ford)
Lots of horses, and no bicycles. Does a chap in a wheelchair with a bicycle bell on his beer mug count? Because that’s all I could count. Didn’t see a single bicycle in the background, in a photo, as a picture on a mug or apron, on a poster or at a distance far in the background. Probably due to the number of horses on set. As a result I give this episode 0/10.

This episode is a great lesson in why you should trust people who are crazy about orchids.
Spoiler: this bicycle is also the getaway vehicle. You may recognise the rider from such things as Sense and Sensibility.

This episode was choc full of bicycles and bank robbers and crooked coppers. Haven’t seen a cops and robbers trope plot in a hot minute and it was fun to have one after the cults, and crop circles of recent episodes. Fun, silly and full of silly disguises and watercolour painting. And good ankles.

Ok, listen, there’s a stolen idol statue thing by the secret society of a private school who call themselves the fucking Pudding Club and run around with large fucking silver spoons. What did I just watch? This season. This season. Crop circles and now this. I am always trying to suspend my disbelief, it’s a cosy murder show after all, but the amount of times I’ve said WHAT out loud.
