Eight Stall Barn

The eight stall barn that’s been in progress is complete aside from doors. When the doors are complete, it will be put up for sale soon!

The barn is simple, with space for eight stalls on either side. Space can be set aside for wash stalls, storage, or tack area! Each stall has an external door with a beautiful rough timber frame to hold up to the wear and tear of horse use. Skylights sit above every stall space, flooding the barn with natural light during the day.

WIP Remmington Stall Set

After a long time I’ve started a project to answer the many calls for a full wall stall set. This stall front will sit solidly between support beams and feature a roll track door and a built in blanket rack.

Texture & Plank Practice

Decided to test an idea I had for making nice random and organic feeling wood plank placement, and doctoring baked lighted textures to look less repetitive. If you look very closely, you might even notice some of the same features of the wood right next to each other on different planks. With some rendered cloud shading and some stain decals overlaid, each plank looks unique!

WIP Winchstaff Stall Set

The extreme curves of this beautiful style are the main feature of this elegant stall set. A concrete curb is built in to contain bedding and provide a solid foundation for the support posts. Horizontal boards offer a refreshing alternative to traditional vertical wood fill.

This project is currently in Basic modeling. Basic Modeling To Do: Finish Door with open air bars Improve those poles (yikes)

WIP Eight Stall Barn Remake

I dug this barn about of the corner from the last time I worked on it in December, and gave it a test upload real quick. It was over 200LI, but it was unrefined and...yeah those mesh external doors probably had something to do with it. Also don’t mind that weirdly shaped big window, I think I was missing with the shape last time I worked on this.

To Do: Tear out the lights and mesh doors Make the mesh doors their own project Change that Window. Go with the rough timber door frames (So far...)

Discontinued WIP

This particular barn isn't going to be continued because I made it with 4 meter stalls as a test. Stalls should really not be under 6 meters! However, I learned a couple great techniques from this, and made some custom wood textures that work out really well. I may remake this style of barn in proper dimensions later!

All it needs is a back wall, which was requested by my beta tester and already on the ‘Extra Parts’ list. I was focused on completely finishing enough pieces to actually use the set first, which has come to pass. Now it needs those extra pieces.

I’ve been modeling a tiny barn-like shed for fun, and I decided to test upload it to Second Life. I set the physics shape to High just to somewhat be able to walk around in it. And it turns out if I set the Interior walls (which are a separate object in the linkset) to be the root of the linkset, and set everything to ‘None’ physics shape except for the root interior walls set to Prim so it does have it’s physics shape, the entire optimized build of a bunch of separate pieces is only 7 Land Impact. Wow!

TL;DR I didn’t optimize the build for Second Life at all, and set only the interior walls to have a physics shape, and the entire build came out to 7 Land Impact. Wow!

(I would have set the exterior walls to have physics too but it didn’t analyse well in the uploader, and so didn’t have a door hole.)

I tried making a decent gif of the material set I’m making but I think this is just making me motion sick.

I made some rubber matting from scratch with Cinema 4D and Photoshop. This includes a bump/normal map and a specular map with a little bit of wear and tear as seen in the second photo.

Here’s a build that started out for fun to mess with a ‘feel’ or ‘mood’ for the interior of a horse stable, and has turned into a semi-serious build where I’m playing around with several different ideas I found extremely hard to pull off right some months ago. Cutting a roof up to not poke into a dormer!? That was Crazy to me at some point!

I’ve also been relaxing a bit on being pinpoint accurate on where points and lines need to be. You try to calculate how to move a line on a sloped surface so as not to disrupt the slope. I know there’s probably some kind of ‘slide’ feature but eh...
