OPAL raised her hands to her forehead like a visor, attempting to block the glaring sun from her eyes. It was one of those unseasonably hot fall afternoons, the kind that feels great for the first hour or so. Then it just gets obnoxious. The clouds were aplenty today, but when they made way for the sun to get her moment, the heat spiked. A breeze would help, but today was not her lucky day. Opal continued to walk down the street, her jeans sticking to her thighs, the fabric of her underwear uncomfortably moist from the heat. She had been walking for so long that she genuinely could not remember where she was going. It was hard to keep tabs on your destination when you get stopped every six blocks. She would understand if it wasnât so bothersome to be the constant center of attention. Such a privilege to be the one everyone notices. The one that no one can ever forget. Opal couldnât stand it, but there wasnât much to be done about complaining.
She noticed Him walking towards her from up the road. She could see in his eyes that he had already noticed her, that energy pulling him off his intended path and into her atmosphere. She pulled down her sunglasses, the glare from the sun blinding her momentarily. She had to make sure her prey was worthy of a full glance. He was nondescript, white printed shirt and jeans falling below his waist. His hair was faded low to his head, the sun beaming off it at the perfect angle. His eyes were covered by shades. Opal took a deep breath, the air intoxicating her lungs. Green eyes with specks of brown. Her mouth began to water. She could not wait to look into those eyes.
Opal stopped walking, allowing Him to close the space between them. He removed his sunglasses slowly, revealing those delicious green eyes, specks of brown sprinkled within his irisâ. They were watering with tears.
âI canât believe it. Itâs you. It is really you?â
Opal stood in silence, considering where to assert her power. It was too easy to take him, and that was most the fun. Convincing them that they wanted this. That they wanted her. His soul was wide open, and that annoyed her. She walked around Him and continued to walk down the road not wasting her time by looking back to see if he would follow.
âWait! Please.â The sound of his footsteps moving at full capacity sent an electric shock through her body. This was what she lived for. This is what made her who she is. Why the world bowed at her feet. She could always tell when it would be worth it. When a stain was so bright, their scent changing her destination from miles away. Many will attempt, but only a select few could grab her. He was one of them.
Opal turned, slowly, and He was already on his knees before her, his head bowed in submission. She couldnât help but roll her eyes. For a stain to smell this good, he was boring her to tears.
âLook at me.â She could see his mind turning, confused by her demand. You donât look into the eyes of someone so superior. But she loved it. The way they felt when they realized what was happening. The smell of their blood quickening in the pulsing veins beneath their flesh. The redness that spread over their skin. The anxiety. Opal took another deep breath, the thought of his soul moving her to sway in the sun. She didnât even realize she was no longer sweating.
He looked up, their eyes locking. She could feel it, the anxiety spreading through him. His knees locking into the ground, his mouth agape. Opal looked like a ball of fire, the sun setting her hair ablaze. He was ready.
Opal reached into her back pocket and revealed a plump and ripe peach. It was pristine, a bit confusing for a piece of fruit to rest so perfectly in the ass pocket of a pair of jeans. She stepped closer to him, a small smile dancing slowly across her lips. The tears were falling freely from his eyes now, his limbs limp and unmoving. Opal pulled his already open mouth wider and slowly placed the peach in his mouth whole. She let it sit there for a moment, relishing in the fear in his tense jaw, the unwillingness to recognize that he knew what was coming next. A feeling of irrational hunger came over her, and at that moment he gave in. She could see his tongue rest, moving the fruit deeper into his mouth. The inevitable finally seeped in.
Fervent with a need, Opal brought her mouth to his, her teeth taking a bite from the peach. She savored the sticky sweet feeling of the juice flowing down her face. She brought her delicate fingers to his mouth and pushed the peach down his throat. Whole. There were no sounds of choking or gasping for air, but silence. Contentment. He watched her chewing on the devil's fruit, his beautiful brown speckled green eyes going soft as the white began to fill with orange liquid. The same liquid began to pool in his mouth, slowly streaming out like a waterfall. He was a fountain of peach juice. A fountain of her power.
Unable to resist, Opal brought her mouth to his left eye and took a long loud slurp. She stood up, his eye socket left empty sans the leftover juice raining out. Delicious. Just as she dreamed. Opal took one last glance at Him, his body disintegrating into sugary liquid. She felt sad for a moment; He was fun. Predictable, but fun. Those kind donât come by too often. Opal began her walk down the road, her hair still blazing like fire in the sun, her skin was once again damp from the sticky sweet desire slipping through her pores.
