( istg i’ll get back here Eventually(tm) i’ve been writing a short story the pass two days about mai and their bestie and i just rlly miss my kids i miss this canon i just gotta wait till hopefully the weekened when i’m finally done with this damn thing. )

( things i gotta write down / flesh out more: certain parts of yoshi’s past to be specific after they died and all the shit that went down. especially their relationship with his emotionally abusive and possessive ex and why yoshi can’t deal with certain aspects of his everyday life despite majority of what he has problems with being obligatory in order to survive. )

( oKAY THAT !!! last post actually made me pretty upset while writing it so i feel like i should mention something cute like the fact when mai starts getting in a bad mental place aka Bad Vibes, they’ll start drawing on either kai or yoshi’s arms. whoever is around really but they like coloring in yoshi’s tattoos the most and he’ll actually let them without a single peep cause he knows it helps keep them distracted. his only rule about it is that they don’t use scented markers or anything too pastely. he mainly likes purples and reds so that’s about all mai is limited too. when he’s awake that is :^) otherwise you bet mai grabs all their markers and uses whatever colors they want. sometimes kai will even join in or take pictures while trying not to laugh too loud cause pink really doesn’t suit yoshi and mai agrees but they do it anyway. )

while they are indeed able to heal just about any wound without any scarring, those of their kind are never able to heal the ones that caused their death. you’d think the scar tissue that’s barely even noticeable wouldn’t be able to reopen nor hurt, but that’s only true so long as they’ve eaten enough to keep it so. otherwise you’d be surprised at how quick a thought to be taken care of wound is to open again, the pain and blood seeping from it as if they’d just gotten it despite the wound being more than a few years old.

mai. while mai’s are indeed painful both to them and to gaze upon, they aren’t nearly as messy or violent as her brother’s. their wounds were caused by an axe, sharpened edge cutting deep enough into their back to almost hit bone. it stretches from their upper back to about the middle. it’s incredibly rare for mai to ever have the usually healed wound begin to bleed ( their eating out of nervousness or boredom keeps them rather full and they hardly ever overuse their few powers ), but when it does it’s usually very obvious. they become very slow and small looking, all color from their skin vanishing to the point they look like an actual ghost. it’s a good thing they never let this happen to them when outside of their house or when alone, for their sense of reality becomes blurred as they are briefly thrown back in time to the evening they were murdered, reduced to a trembling and mumbling mess as they try to gain enough sense to curb these episodes by eating. at least it’s not as bad as it use to be, they sometimes even had to be fed like a child.

kai. kai’s are undoubtedly the messiest and gruesome of them all. due to his death being the result of suicide and his choice of poison having been slitting his own throat, there unfortunately isn’t much the others can do. they all try their best to make sure he’s eaten or see if he looks tired, if he does they’ll urge him to eat at least something for if his do reopen, he has no possibility of being able to eat while still himself like the others. the reason the freezer in the back room and even the walls have so many animal like claw marks in them is due to him. the hunger can not only cause their wounds to open, but also put them in a delirious and violent state, the only thing on their minds then to eat and eat now. they become so violent yoshi and mai have to hide in another room with the door locked, otherwise he’d try taking a bite out of them. plus it’s the easiest way to ignore the sounds of kai temporarily ‘ dying ‘, choking on his own blood, helpless as the red river flows everywhere until it decides to stop.

yoshi. while questionable, yoshi’s said to have died twice, hence why they have more than twenty or so scars in total. all run along various parts of his body, but the worse ones linger mainly on his back and sides. some are from gun shots, knives and what even looks like vague claw marks ( mai once joked asking if he’d slept with someone recently, finding the human like finger nails a weird addition, the only answer they got was a rolled up newspaper to the face ). yoshi’s episodes are more frequent than mai or kai would like, their elder seemingly only ever eating the bare minimum to at least keep a solid form, but never enough to keep from staining the damn couch with all his blood. much like mai they also have a tendency to act as though they’ve gotten sick, feverish and more prone to panic attacks than normal. it’s not uncommon for both of the younger ghosts to cancel any plans they may have had to stay beside the closest thing they have to a care taker. using up all the bandages and often going a day or two without sleep may be a bit of a pain, but if it’s for him, they’re alright with it for they know it’s one of the few times his dependency upon them shows.

someone: your older brother is so scary ! doesn’t he ever scare you ? mai: one time i thought he was gonna yell at me for stomping around the house in his boots but instead he put on a pair of his high heels and we just walked around the house like a pair of kids in their mother’s shoes.

        " Dammit, I got blood on my shoes. My new ones too. " They'd grumble, lips curving into an irritated frown as eyes scanned over the small spots of blood on their one good pair of boots. Even if they were all black he could still see it, and that bugged him quite a bit. " Hey, girl, aren't you gonna say anything ? Like I dunno, a ' thank you ' ? Or are you still in shock ? " He wouldn't be too surprised about her still being in shock, after all she'd have been dragged away by some men had it not been for Yoshi feeling a bit generous at that moment. Nearly pulverizing them to death, but still managing to let them live, if only not to cause too bad of a scene.

        " ah...shit. " words were muffled as body slowly pushed off the dust and debris they were currently hidden under. all thanks to a little prank they ruined all thanks to getting a bit too carried away. often when they found humans in one of the abandoned buildings they tended to hide out in they enjoyed messing with them a little, putting their levitation and transparency abilities to ' good use '. however he forgot one thing this time, just because your technically dead and transparent doesn't mean your entirely weightless, and thanks to stepping on a weak rafter they fell through. falling with a great thud ( and groan ).

          " hey, boy ? girl ??? it ???? whatever, if you're gonna yell about seeing me, kindly do it outside. pretty sure i may get a headache from fallin' and i know it'll be definite if you scream. so please don't. " their nonchalance as they spoke, even while still clearly not a hundred percent visible, may have hinted at that this isn't the first time this has happened to them.

while their status as some weird, fucked up ghost who had to eat others in order to maintain their self was something they never shied away from complaining about, anything pertaining to who they were prior to their murder was kept locked within a box within a box. the outer box kept in some dark and damp corner of their mind they never ventured into unless it was late and they were alone, the only source of noise other than the light rainfall outside the light and muffled sounds of some 80′s b movie they put on in an attempt to remain distracted from the Bad Vibes.
