– vi swiveled in her chair and stepped away from the bar, taking a sip of her drink. a small smile fell on her face as she headed toward a table directly between the counter and the patio. she glanced around for the person she’d agreed to meet. she frowned when she couldn’t find them and glanced down at her drink. she was late, as usual, so it was entirely possible they had already left. she let out a huff before turning to the person closest to her. “ hey, ” she paused, “ do you know what song this is? ” she gestured above, where she was sure the establishment had installed speakers which played the unfamiliar song.
getting his first drink in his new home, miles was excited to immerse himself in this new society. he imagined himself coming to this bar with his friends, getting drinks and having fun. he imagined himself knowing everyone in the small town, walking down the street and being able to say hi to every person that passed him. he had to start somehow, even if it meant being in a bar alone, he was a social butterfly so he knew he would make friends somehow soon. he didn’t even have to start the conversation that night, as the girl next to him did that already. “hi.” he spoke, scottish accent and all. “i’m afraid i don’t, but i can shazam it if you’d like.” he offered to her.
