I think this was the most fun, but improv quilting is also kind of stressful. It started with that flying geese block, and this is how it ended. I love using up my scraps!

I think this was the most fun, but improv quilting is also kind of stressful. It started with that flying geese block, and this is how it ended. I love using up my scraps!
Used up all the extra triangles from the bear paw quilt, and made this quick top to go to Project DJ.
I found that flannel on the way to my quilt retreat, and it was fate, and this was always intended to go with the previous space quilt. I used up a bunch of scraps for the front and finished it there. I love easy projects!
A friend of mine just had a boy, and this quilt just fell into place. I love that space fabric, and I was stuck on doing a big bear paw like this. As always with me, it could use a bit more contrast, but I still love it.
One of my coworkers is having a boy, and as soon as he told me, I knew I had to use that robot fabric. The blocks were inspired by a bee block a member of my quilt guild had her group do, except I made mine way larger so I could highlight the fabric. Of course, I cut my fabric wrong so the blocks are smaller than I wanted, but the borders really work.
I had those centers from another project, and there since there weren’t enough to really do anything with them, I thought they would as centers for these blocks. I also thought this would turn out a lot wonkier than it did, but I think it works out.
I made this with the left over fabric from the Churndashes. I really do love pinwheels, except for the bulky center seams they create. I love the huge border, and how fun is that mushroom fabric?
My college roommate had a little girl, so of course I had to make a quilt for her. I made a Churndash quilt for her boy, so I figured why not make them matching quilts? I did simple horizontal quilting about an inch apart. I just love how bright and cheery this turned out to be.
Another 1 Hour Basket for a little boy! Who doesn’t love dinosaurs?
I signed up to do the Modern Quilt Guild mini quilt swap, and this was my end result. The receiver said she liked secondary colors, squares, triangles, celestial motifs, and Gees Bend quilts. I was at first very uninspired, but then I decided to vomit up all those inspirations, and this was the result. It’s pretty wacky, but I think it really works!
For some reason my mom has all these red and aqua strips of fabric lying around, so I decided to go to town and put this top together. I sometimes like it, and sometimes it give me a a headache. I think it’s all the red.
If you ignore the top and bottom shelves, LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL MY STASH IS!!! So beautifully organized! So easy to find fabrics! I’m not shocked at how many blues i have, but look how little purple there is! I love purple, I don’t know why I’m so low. I must have used it all!
Wild with improv! I started this the last time I was home using the scraps from the quilts I had sewn. I added some to it and then went wild with borders. I love the colors and the weird fabrics all together. Will be donated.
I’ve had those squares cut for years but never did anything with them. I needed something to sew quick to get the sewing going, and this was the perfect project for this. Will be donated.
Another One Hour Basket! I love this pattern so much, it’s so handy to go with any present. This one will be going to a baby girl with a quilt.
THIS SCARF. You can check it wayyyyyy earlier in this blog, but I started this scarf over 2 years ago. It’s 2 skeins of yarn, and I finished 1 skein easily, but I couldn’t bring myself to pick it up again to knit the other scarf. It sat and sat waiting to be worked on. I brought it back with me, and it sat on my dresser for months. I made up excuses: “Oh it’s too hot to knit”, “Oh I have to finish this book”, “I need to pay attention to this garbage television show”. One day, I was bored, picked up the scarf, and finished it in 2 nights. Of course. It’s hard to tell in the pic, but the yarn was this perfect light heather-y grey, with flecks of brown and black in it. It’s the perfect fall scarf. I made it a littler wider than normal, and it’s super long. I can’t wait to wear it!
For someone who doesn’t like triangles, I sure have used them a lot lately. These are the left over triangles from the fox baby quilt. I love this color story so much. I would have never thought of it, but the purples and the oranges go so well together.
