All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up
Pablo Picasso
This is another crayon drawing I did myself. I was trying to keep it simple, avoiding the obsession of making it all proportionately correct or very realistic
These are some examples of what friends and relatives have done in solidarity with the 43 disappeared students
In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends
Martin Luther King Jr
This is another life painting from class with the intention to look more carefully at colors and to obtain more practice and confidence with figure painting
This painting should have already be done but I keep adding and removing elements. I had a reflection on the bottom that I removed. I had added a figure but I also got rid of it. The only thing I an thinking of adding now for sure is a dog crossing the street. And I still need to define better the parked vehicles
This is an oil on canvas,4ftx3ft. I just started it and I have a collage composition in mind for this painting. I will be referencing the corruption, violence and oppression that is experienced in Mexico.
For this coming Thursday’s candle light vigil and march I have invited friends and relatives to show their support by cooperating with the drawings of the 43 students. This is one I made with crayola crayons.
I will soon be posting images of the rest of the drawings made.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter
Martin Luther King Jr.
I was recently asked by a friend to help him with a poster design for an organization he is a part of, called Escuela de la Paz. He more specifically wanted help with drawing some birds and what he wanted was simplified versions. This was my attempt at it.
It's time for us to raise our voices and show our solidarity not only with the students and their loved ones, but all those who have lost their lives because of corruption and violence. We will be holding a candlelight vigil and march on November 20, which also marks the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. The march will begin in Cleveland Park in downtown El Paso, from there we will march to the Mexican Consulate on San Antonio, and then join our voices with others around the globe who are demanding justice, answers, and accountability.
The most violent element in society is ignorance
Emma Goldman
Today I started a very small portrait painting of the president of Mexico. An 8inx10in oil on canvas. His hairstyle is what has significantly distinguished him since election days. He will be portrayed as the cynical, corrupt and violent government that he represents.
Life painting. It really does help to better observe the details in colors and light and therefore it helps better our painting skills. Also there is the "pressure of time" element.
