Note: I’m aware that a lot of Best Friends are calling Donghyun a “pedo/pedophile” because he’s very close to Minwoo, even in real life. I’d just like to correct you guys by saying that pedophilia has two criteria. First of all, the person targeted by the pedophile must be a child (child: defined as someone below the legal age of majority). So, yes, Minwoo is a child, Donghyun is not a child. That fulfils one criteria. Second criteria, which is crucial in differentiating between pedophiles and just a normal relationship between a person of legal age and a person not of legal age: the pedophile is sexually attracted to children.

Therefore, any form of Donghyun/Minwoo fanfiction portrays Donghyun as a pedophile (at least for the next 2 years), so if you’re sensitive to pedophilia, please leave the page now. Otherwise, please don’t misuse the word pedophile and call Donghyun one when you don’t even have evidence that he is a pedophile. It’s a harmful word that can hurt someone, so please don’t say such things about Donghyun. And I’m saying this as a Best Friend on the whole and also someone who is biased to Donghyun.

In this particular piece, I tried to portray a realistic internal battle for Donghyun who, as a character in this story, identifies as a heterosexual male but has fallen for his fellow band mate, a very male Minwoo. Whether or not you want to believe that Donghyun loves Minwoo or if he’s just making use of Minwoo is up to you, but the point of my story is about the conflict Donghyun has with himself since his attraction to Minwoo is not considered “normal” or even mildly “acceptable” within majority of the Korean society. Korean fangirls do ship band members together, but I don’t think they want the band members to actually be gay together.
