“What began as a funny idea for an art exhibition turned into a life-changing rollercoaster of unbelievable opportunity that I will never forget.”
A year ago, artist Lucy Sparrow launched a successful Kickstarter project to fund the creation of an all-felt Cornershop. For it, she took over an abandoned corner store in London, and filled it with handmade felt replicas of all the products you would normally discover there. There were felt soup cans, felt newspapers, felt candy, and even a felt register. It was just a silly idea, but — according to her most recent project update — it was also a gigantic success, receiving worldwide press and over 15,000 visitors. The accolades and accomplishments don’t end there, though. Sparrow now also has two more solo shows in the works, a full-time art practice, her own studio, and a published book, to boot. A huge congrats!
