the missing Helermo Kiss in art and writing
“You, you, you and him.”, the soldier ordered, pointing out Rio, Bogota, Mattias and Helsinki. “With me.”
They were splitting them up again and Palermo was praying to whatever god might listen that the professor was negotiating.
He turned his head to look at Helsinki as they grabbed him and pulled him along while the others stood up.
As they pulled him past Palermo, the man made a split second decision. There was a good chance that they were never going to see again. The possibility of going to jail or being executed was closer than ever and Palermo wouldn’t let either happen without having done this. He regretted every moment he hadn’t done it. Every time they had flirted in class, every time during sex and after sex, and while dancing, when they had been so so close and he hadn’t done this, because he had been a coward.
But last night he had found his courage. His plan had worked, his math had been right and somehow that had given him everything he had missed over years and years.
He lunged over, hooked his bound hands behind Helsinki’s neck and smashed their lips together.
Immediately two soldiers grabbed him, each an arm, one his collar and the other his hair. They ripped him away from Helsinki with a force that knocked him right on his ass.
He just laughed out loud, ignoring the soldiers shouting at him.
Helsinki chuckled as they pulled him away and Palermo could feel his warmth just from seeing the sparkle in his eyes.
“We’ll see again, gordo.”, he yelled over the orders that were shouted at him, praying it was true. Helsinki gave him a nod.
A boot landed in his back, knocking him down and a second later a knee between his shoulder blades pressed all air out of his lungs.
“Do you think that’s funny? You think that’s fucking funny?”, a soldier screamed at him.
“I think it’s fucking hilarious, hermano. I had to deal with homophobic middleschool bullies, your gun doesn’t fucking scare me.”
He grinned. This moment had been worth everything.
It would get him through whatever was to come.
