Ada Limón, from “The Great Blue Heron Of Dunbar Road”, Bright Dead Things
“At night/ On the roof top/ I untie my hair/ And watch from my plastic chair/ As my dark hair/ Unleashes the night/ The scent of flowers/ Still in bloom from morning shower/ And I/ Say your name/ In hopes you’ll hear it in the stars”
Mitski, Carry Me Out
this is good
I’d just like to add, see how they behave when they’re angry/frustrated/exhausted, and if you see something that concerns you, wait until they’re calm, and then talk to them about it.
My husband used to yell when he got frustrated, but after I explained to him that I found it upsetting, he stopped yelling and started consciously working on asking for help before he got to that level of frustration.
When I’m upset over something, or just in a bad mood, I tend to withdraw. My husband explained to me that it makes him feel like I’m mad at him, so now when I need some space, I’ll tell him what I’m upset about, or that I’m in a bad mood for no particular reason, and I need to be alone for a little while.
See your friends and partners at their worst, but don’t assume that their worst is immutable. If someone loves and cares about you, they’ll try to accommodate you to the best of their ability.
^^^^ This is the best advice I’ve ever seen on this site, and it is so important. Communication is everything, and is 80% of the reason my husband and I have such a healthy, strong, and supportive relationship.
For writing characters grieving a loss.
This can also apply to real life, a bit more handily than the Seven Steps thing
Progress is different for everyone so don’t make comparisons, just focus on your path.
“Drifting away
In my imagination
I see you in a paper airplane
Get a running start
'Cause you're almost there, you're almost flying
You're way up there
Way up in the clouds
So, baby, glide
Right through the sky
'Cause you didn't look back when I said I loved you
Baby, goodbye
And leave me with a sigh
You'll eventually hit the ground, and even then
I'll be waiting for you
I'll be waiting for you
I'll be waiting for you
My runaway man
Falling asleep at night
Was never easy to me
When I know
There are shining stars above my head
So I get a running start
Cause I'm almost there, I'm almost flying
I'm way up there
Way up in the clouds
So I'm gonna glide
Right through the sky
Cause you didn't look back when I said I loved you
So, baby, goodbye
And leave me with a sigh
You'll eventually hit the ground, and even then
I'll be waiting for you
I'll be waiting for you”
“I can’t shake it off.
Always a fight between my past,
My head and my heart.
You can cut me up,
And spread me all over [Arizona].”

fall in love with someone who wants you, who waits for you. who understands you even in the madness, someone who helps you, and guides you, someone who is your support, and your hope. fall in love with someone who talks with you after a fight. fall in love with someone who misses you and wants to be with you. do not fall in love only with a body or a face or with the idea of being in love
