Biography:
Marlene McKinnon was the youngest of numerous siblings and being smacked in the middle the neglect was expected. Marlene didnāt care too much though, if it was any other of her siblings she knew they wouldnāt be able to take it. She was the only one strong enough to be able to deal with what her siblings couldnāt. After Mrs. McKinnon died a few months from Marcusā birth everyone could tell their father was not the man he used to be; not that he was much of a good man at all. Marleneās father was a raging alcoholic before he met his āone and onlyā though, that never seemed to be enough for him as it seemed, heād always slip off with some other beauty and after Mrs. McKinnon found out she was pregnant she stayed with him because no one else would take her in. Over the years he had become much better but never really loved towards his children, as he liked to tell them off for what they were doing. He never laid a hand on any of them after one time he slapped Mark for ruining one of his muggle toys by mistake. After that incident Mrs. McKinnon made it clear that if it ever happened again she was going to pack the kids things and he would never see her or anyone of them again. So, it never did; though there were a few close calls but a few glances towards mum and a good stone cold glare did the trick it wasnāt till after her death did the abuse start. At first there were only a few bruises on her arms or legs she had to hide but then it escalated to a lot more then that; there was no way was she going to let her siblings found out about what was happening. They were already grieving their mother, there was no need for them to handle this as well. Over the years there were a bit of questioning as she got a bit lazy but thankful she always just mumble something about Quidditch and the boys would just smile and ruffle her hair while McKenna would shake her head and tell Marlene that some girl time was needed.
There were good times though, even after her motherās death. She began talking to her neighbor James Potter who was the same age as her and was the one who really got her into Quidditch. Her brothers did a poor job in explaining the game to her and left her more confused then she originally was, but with James he made everything clear and she spent a good amount of time over at the Potter house. She felt safe there and practically like another daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Potter. James was her best friend but she had a feeling it wouldnāt be quite the same when they got to school but at least they will have classes and Quidditch together. They were both so sure they would get into Gryffindor and on the team, how could they not? James flew incredibly for his age and would only get better. Marlene had a keen eye and always was picked to be seeker because no one was better. Mr. and Mrs. Potter always laughed at the two, so young, so confident and so very bright.Ā
As Marlene was setting off to Hogwarts she was more relived then ever, she would be able to get away, and if she wanted she could say she wanted to stay for Christmas because a friend of hers didnāt have anywhere to go to. Sheād be away for practically the entire year and only had to stay about two months at home. Sure, sheād miss McKenna and Marcus but she knew they were safe, McKenna always did everything right and was still too young, Marcus was already showing signs of being a strong boy unlike Matthew and Mark who were more lean and thin. At Hogwarts she was surprised by the amount of friends that clasped her brothers on the back and went on about her, calling her ālittle lady McKinnonā as a joke. She smiled at that before she knew that her brothers would like to be with their friends she quickly made her exit and made her way in a compartment with only one other girl inside. She asked if it was okay to sit down and the girl remarked that she didnāt own the compartment. Marlene smiled and that is how she became best friends with Dorcas Meadowes. It wasnāt much longer till she got sorted did she feel very disappointed that Dorcas was put into Ravenclaw for she just knew she had to be a Gryffindor. When her name was called up she rushed to the front and it didnāt even take a full minute for the hat to scream Gryffindor. While separated from her new companion, she got to her house table and was seated next to a little redhead that was sorted in earlier. The girl introduced herself and told Marlene that her braid was really nice and that was the first compliment she got from someone outside her siblings in a very long time. Marlene smiled and introduced her new friends and they became a trio that could never be split apart. It wasnāt till next year though that they became complete with Mary joining their group.
Possible Relationships:
MatthewĀ McKinnon, Mark McKinnon, McKenna McKinnon, Marcus McKinnon: Her siblings. She loves them more then anything and is glad that they would always be on her side if they would ever know what she had to go through ever single day.
Dorcas Meadows, Lily Evans, Mary MacDonald: The best friends anyone could ask for, really. Dorcas brought Marlene down to earth and made her snort at the dumbest things. Mary was too sweet and Marlene sometimes wished she could tell her everything because she knew Mary would just hold her and wipe away her tears. Finally, little red-head Evans; they were so alike in some aspects, yet so different. The three of them were practically her other sisters.
James Potter: Her childhood friend that can never get away from her. They pull pranks on each other, love each other, would do anything for each other but most especially tell each other when they are being stupid and thatās why they work.
Sirius Black: Someone that just wonāt get away. She likes and hates him and she just wishes that it will all stop. She never told anyone how she feels about him but it seems Dorcas, Lily and Mary have found out somehow
