Instead of thinking of bisexual women as “theives trying to steal lesbian identities” (which boy does that reinforce the stereotype of believing bisexual women are greedy hypersexual sluts who will sleep with anyone and cheat on their lovers), think of us as fellow wlw returning to the table we were forcibly, unrightfully ejected from. Think of us as reclaiming labels that were always ours to begin with until we were kicked out into the cold.

Secondly, bisexual women have ALWAYS been part of wlw history and culture, up until the the “political lesbian” separatist movement, which included women who identified as “lesbian” only because they hated men so much they decided not to have sex with them and call themselves “lesbian” even though they were NOT sexually attracted to women. They were “women identified women who don’t fuck men” - sexual attraction to women was not required. It was THESE women who decided to excise bisexual women from the “lesbian” community, even though some of these women weren’t even queer. I’m more of a lesbian than some of these “political lesbians” were. Fuck them.

I don’t engage with posts that wear me out so I’m making my own post to say that if you’re middle class and you go to a thrift store to get clothes to cut up for your crafts and sewing or support your purse collecting habit that’s fine.
You’re not a gentrifier. You’re not taking resources away from less fortunate people who need them more because thrift stores are businesses, not services, so the more you patronize them the more they expand. I used to work at a thrift store and my boss told me we threw away about half of our donations from the street because they were too damaged or dirty and we threw away another half of the merchandise on the floor that didn’t sell. And that was before Marie Kondo got popular.
So yeah those sheets would look better on somebody’s bed than as a tablecloth you made but they look better as your craft project than getting thrown away. You don’t know. And you’re paying the store to stay open and put another set of sheets out tomorrow. So feel free to shop at thrift stores especially if you donate to them.

Me: listen! I am a bi bitch who can sense the bi energy of a character who should have been bi! I know! It's not their fault the author didn't have it in themself to actually make them one! Ok so imagine your fantasy setting with your typical giant spiders.
Ok, now imagine that these spiders have largely been domesticated for their incredibly valuable silk. They help make clothes, rope, textiles, even ARMOR. They’re almost treated like carnivorous cows in the regions that can support them. They might even name these girls the classic names like “Bessie”. They’re great mothers and produce many young; useful for trade and… even food if you like The Crunch.
People in this world are hardly afraid of big spiders the same as we’re hardly afraid of big dogs. Wary of wild ones, but not scream and cry terrified. Smaller spiders…it depends. Would you be scared if you suddenly saw a tiny cow crawling on your wall? The only type of spider people collectively fear are the hunting types: the ones that don’t spin webs, and instead attack their prey with brute force and a much stronger venom.
These large domestic spiders are incredibly lazy. They’ll sit in their webs and wait for their handlers to put their food on the web. Unless you get tangled, they don’t see you as food. This makes them great guards as well. They build traps for you. The venom isn’t deadly to humans…but can still be used as a weapon or in medicine. They’re just so damn useful that millennia ago, people put aside their instinctual fear just to get those sweet benefits.

Carnivorous animals generally don’t make good domestic animals unless there’s a HUGE benefit. The only carnivores we domesticated are dogs, which are small and can be omnivorous, and cats, which are smaller and are mostly used as pest control so they feed themselves. The energy requirements for carnivores are much larger than those for herbivores.
Consider, instead, bees.
Like, bees the size of chickens. They’re useful like chickens, too. They’d have more of a bumblebee orientation, so each bee is fertile and able to lay eggs, and they lay lots of them. On top of that, they produce honey. Imagine domesticated bees that just lazily buzz around pollinating giant flowers and laying eggs. That’d be wild.
Those are the energy requirements for predatory mammals; warm blooded and extremely active animals. Most arachnids have slow metabolisms that can go weeks or months between meals, as is also the case for large “cold blooded” predatory vertebrates like big fish, crocodilians and constrictor snakes. Spiders that evolved strictly as “sit and wait” predators, hanging out in webs, have proportionately even lower energy requirements than any of those and the benefits of the silk would definitely outweigh the cost of feeding one probably the equivalent of five or six chickens a year, and the number of wild birds and rodents caught in the web would probably already be more than enough.
