Things I Am Not Currently Doing

Even if you’re unemployed, even if you’re taking time off from school, even if nobody is calling and making plans with you, get out of bed, take a shower, put on clean clothes, wear some cologne or perfume, turn all the lights on, do some laundry, clean up a little bit.
Doing all this stuff causes a shift in your perspective. Do it in spite of your situation.
That’s the only way to create sustainable happiness, because if your behavior is dictated by your circumstances, you’re always going to be miserable. Don’t let the world determine your mindset. Let your mindset determine how you view the world.
This is the most neurotypical shit I’ve ever read
Diagnosed bipolar and major depressive to the point I had to be hospitalized for it but fuck me for tryna keep it positive nahmean cool copypasta tho hate yall
mentally ill person: *trying to cope and recover in practical, pragmatic ways* someone, inevitably: what kind of neurotypical bullshit is this
a lot of this website has fallen into the trap of equating being pro people who struggle with mental illness with being anti recovery, and even goes so far as to glorify and enable maladaptive symptoms and behaviors. This is a monumentally stupid idea. Illnesses and disorders are called that for a reason. They are not Cake and Happy Funtimes. They make you miserable, they make the people around you miserable, and everything sucks.
Posts that say “Keep trying to do this thing, even when you struggle with it,” are saying that for a reason. It’s fighting back against the illness, refusing to let it claim you. Yeah, it’s hard! Yeah, it sucks! Yeah, it’s okay for you to take a break if you need to! Yeah, it’s perfectly fine if you can’t do it alone and need to ask for help! Sometimes lots of help! But keep fighting. Keep resisting. It’s your life at stake.
deep route guys are…..
It seems many people don’t know, so allow me to point it out. I’ve made Vocaloid songs under the name “Hachi” since I was a teen. Here are some examples. [Links to Matryoshka, Panda Hero] Lately, I’ve come to use my real name to make a distinction between the things that I do. I didn’t know back when I was caught in the whirlpool, but after I’ve started using my real name, I’ve realized there’s a bias against Vocaloid. I wouldn’t call it something people psychologically can’t accept, and I think it’s inevitable to a degree, but being someone who grew up in that place, I’m stating it clearly now. There are many incredible things to be found among songs that use Vocaloid. There’s simultaneously lots of rubbish, but that applies to everything. When I see people unwilling to see the true nature of something, trapped in the framework of genre, I want to sound the alarm. It’s no exaggeration to say it’s my hometown. If you have the chance, I’d like if you could take a look. (Fin)

CTQ 30 day challenge
#CTQ_30days_challenge_1604
1st day - When and how did you know about Bullet Train?
It was on October 10, 2013, I was looking through youtube for niconico dancers, when I found the Secret Express Dance version video. Then I found Shake Body and was sucked in because of their silly song. I posted on my facebook with the Shake Body music video and wrote: "someone explain this to me.... TT.TT/ I listened to the group’s other songs, they are so handsome~ I just can't believe they're our age.../ sigh... I never knew the voices of humans were this cool... still Vocaloids FTW!!!" I was so cringy in the past OTL Now I don't follow Vocaloid much, and only follow CTQ
Day 2 - What do you like about them? What make them so different from other groups?
CTQ is actually the only boy group I like (though I am open to other suggestions of groups like CTQ). No other group has captivated me as much as them. I like them mostly because of their personalities. I like how natural they look and behave. They do not seem fabricated at all (other groups are too tense or are too put together). I love how they are cute and dorky, goofy, yet cool at the same time. They emit this wonderful aura ( like a caring friend). Even though I do not understand Japanese, I can just tell what they are talking about b/c of their weird actions XD. Most importantly they always make me laugh whenever I am having a bad day.
Day 3- Who was the member that caught your eye first?
The first member that caught my eye first was Ryouga. It was during an episode of 超D where the members were split up into 2 group with a draw. When it was Ryouga's turn to draw, he was really derpy and cute. (I want to find that episode again, but can't :C) I liked how when he tries to make a joke, sometimes the other members would look at him funny. I also thought his acne on his face was cute. Ya I'm weird.
Day 4 - Your current favorite member? Did it change over time?
My current favourite is Koichi, but it used to be Ryouga (now #2). I hadn't noticed Koichi at first, but he became more talkative and louder LOL, so he got my attention. I think he is the most dynamic character (I read too much manga). He kinda has a resting angry face, so when he smiles and laugh I get so happy ( he has the biggest smile and loudest laugh)! His voice is so beautiful. Otousan like, yakuza like, cute, funny, ridiculous, painful ( though Ryouga is much more painful) .... He loves food like me. The faces he makes are just so anime like. Overall he looks cool and serious, but is the derpest of them all. Sorry for the fangirling.
Order of favourite <-- April 4, 2016
Koichi
Ryouga
Yuusuke
Kai
Takashi
Takuya
Yuki
Day 5 - Your favorite couple/friendship?
RyouKai. Definitely. The first time I saw them, I thought they were best friends. Ryouga seems to bring out Kai's silliness. Which is really funny. I was surprised the first time Kai acted silly, not mysterious and cool anymore LOL
Day 6 - Cutest member in your opinion?
Koichi would be the cutest, I mean, look at those chubby cheeks, big round eyes, cute smile, weird faces and tantrums
Day 7 - Sexiest member in your opinion?
Yuusuke , but he's a sexy model only during the rare times that he is serious ....
Day 8 - Which member do you think is the most romantic?
Ryouga because I think he just knows how to use his words. Pretty cheesy too I must say. Also Takashi because he is basically like a prince charming XD
Day 9 - Most favorite song (in general)?
My favourite song would be Shake Body. It is such a silly song~ Listening to it makes me energized and happy! I can't seem to find the English translation. If anyone found it, please tell me~
Day 10 - Most impressive instrumental/song beat/melody? Fanfare and Summer Love. They both are upbeat and positive. The beat is fun to dance to. I love to sing to the only English parts I know lol. Songs that I like:
-Shake Body -Fanfare <--- so positive -TRAIN <-- Koichi's voice!!! -snowbreak -No More Cry -SURVIVOR -Love Again <-- Koichi -Secret Express -Superstar <-- everyone gets a part~ -Panipani <-- funky, rap -Billion Beats <-- Takashi -What's going on Hop Step Jump -One life -One/ O Signal -Style -Summer Love -Turn up -Pretty Girl okay.... all their songs...
Day 11 - Most favorite MV? My favourite MV would be Ikki and Battaman. The silly ones just make me want to watch them over and over. Especially Ryouga's parts. Ninja Ryouga in Ikki and Drunk Ryouga in Battaman LOL
Day 12 - Most favorite outfit/costume? (in MV, liveshow...)
Christmas Live and the baseball looking one.
Day 13 - Which song do you like Kouichi's voice in the most?
TRAIN, Love Again and Summer Love . My favourite part in Summer Love is when Koichi says "I love you Baby~". Kyaaaa!!
Day 14 - Which song do you like Takashi's voice in the most? I like his voice in Summer Love the most. His voice sounds more clearer and he has more parts in the song. His singing is improving~. Ganbatte Takashi!
Day 15 - Which Kai's center song do you like the most? Policemen. The dance and outfits are so cool!!!
Day 16 - Which Ryouga's center song do you like the most? Both Bloody Night and Believe x Believe. Love both his cool side and silly side~
Day 17 - Which Takuya's center song do you like the most? Stardust Love Train and Shake Body... handsome XD
Day 18 - Which Yuuki's center song do you like the most? Gravitation and Beautiful Chaser!!! Even though Yuuki is cute and clumsy, but when it comes to his dancing and his MVs, he just look so cool!!
Day 19 - Which Yuusuke's center song do you like the most? Both ikki!!!i!!!!! and Battaman! His centers are always so funny and energetic! Love the choreographs and outfits for the songs~
Day 20 - Most favorite choreography My favourite choreography would be Shake Body.... oh those pelvis thrusts XD I love all of their dances! Summer love, Hashire, Pretty Girl, Ebiday Ebinai, Fanfare, No.1, Beautiful Chaser etc.....
Day 21 - Most favorite live/concert moment(s)? I don't know which concert. Yuusuke was dressed up as an otaku. Yuki was dressed up as a girl. Yuki was jealous that Yuusuke was looking at Takashi (his Cologne girl version) on the screen. So happy that they acknowledge the YuYu shipping XD I also loved the whole 3rd Anniversary concert~ The changing back drop was awesome! Oh, and the Fanfare concert where they were singing in the air~
Day 22 - Do you like the concept of Bad Boyz & Cologne? Would you like them to make an appearance again in future concert? Yes! Bad Boyz was so derpy. Loved Koichi's rapping. Kai was really cool. Ryouga was pfff... still very garigari. Cologne is such a cute group, and I love the song "Candy Night". Where can I download the song!!?
Day 23 - Which member would you like to be your lover/husband? Koichi!!! Such husband and father material. I might have to bribe him with food.... yes.... if that doesn't work, I'll go to Ryouga XD
Day 24 - Which member would you like to be your brother/relative? Koichi- my husband.... :) Ryouga- big brother, my GariGari senpai!!! Kai- cousin/ big brother Takuya- cousin Yuki- girl friend ~~ Yuusuke- little brother/ best friend (I'm already a Yuusuke, so my family would be even more chaotic with another me XD) Takashi- little brother (that I would spoil)
Day 25 - What concept would you like them to do next (and who should be the center)?
More Yuusuke centers with the silly concepts~ And yes, Koichi and Takashi should get to be in a center too. More dancing roles for the background vocals~
Day 26 - What collaboration would you like them to have in the future (band/song writer-producer/artist/being anime OP-ED/etc...)
Collaborations with the EBiDAN family or their sister group! I especially wanna see a collab with M!LK ( my favourite) Definitely more anime OP-EDs
Day 27 - How did you feel about Bullet Train current changes (from fantasy theme to more normal-boyband-y like)? Would you like them to be like this from now on, or to get back with more fantasy theme?
I like how they are right now, because they have improved so much! Also their outfit designs are MUCH better quality. BUT I still really like their unique concepts. I don't want them to turn into a normal boyband. Their unique concepts are what attracted me to them. I can hopefully rely on Yuusuke to bring out the group's uniqueness~~ So a mix would be great!
Day 28 - What change would you like them to have? (concept, range of music genres, distribution between dancers/vocal...) I think their concept is great! Having numbers, colours and tantou really helped me understand the group more. Would be cool if they have an unique song for each member! Their music genre is all over the place. But I love their upbeat happy songs the best. I wanna see the back vocals dance more, sometimes they just stand there.
Day 29 - Do you have any kind of goods from them? I only have the RING album that I got my little brother to buy when he was in Japan. Shipping fees are way too expensive!! I wanna buy the Ebidan magazines now that they are in Kindle form.
Day 30 - How many more year from now on do you think that they would have their dream come true and eventually get to hold a concert in Tokyo Dome? I'm not sure what the relative time it takes for a group to hold a concert at Tokyo Dome, but I want it as soon as possible (though hoping around 2 years time b/c I plan to go to Japan then)! I will support them as much as I can for their dream to come true!
The thing is, even as you accomplish more and become greater in life, you will still feel this way sometimes. You have to accept who you are now as good enough because it’s the internal feelings that make all the difference, not the external achievements.
Blind people gesture (and why that’s kind of a big deal)
People who are blind from birth will gesture when they speak. I always like pointing out this fact when I teach classes on gesture, because it gives us an an interesting perspective on how we learn and use gestures. Until now I’ve mostly cited a 1998 paper from Jana Iverson and Susan Goldin-Meadow that analysed the gestures and speech of young blind people. Not only do blind people gesture, but the frequency and types of gestures they use does not appear to differ greatly from how sighted people gesture. If people learn gesture without ever seeing a gesture (and, most likely, never being shown), then there must be something about learning a language that means you get gestures as a bonus.
Blind people will even gesture when talking to other blind people, and sighted people will gesture when speaking on the phone - so we know that people don’t only gesture when they speak to someone who can see their gestures.
Earlier this year a new paper came out that adds to this story. Şeyda Özçalışkan, Ché Lucero and Susan Goldin-Meadow looked at the gestures of blind speakers of Turkish and English, to see if the *way* they gestured was different to sighted speakers of those languages. Some of the sighted speakers were blindfolded and others left able to see their conversation partner.
Turkish and English were chosen, because it has already been established that speakers of those languages consistently gesture differently when talking about videos of items moving. English speakers will be more likely to show the manner (e.g. ‘rolling’ or bouncing’) and trajectory (e.g. ‘left to right’, ‘downwards’) together in one gesture, and Turkish speakers will show these features as two separate gestures. This reflects the fact that English ‘roll down’ is one verbal clause, while in Turkish the equivalent would be yuvarlanarak iniyor, which translates as two verbs ‘rolling descending’.
Since we know that blind people do gesture, Özçalışkan’s team wanted to figure out if they gestured like other speakers of their language. Did the blind Turkish speakers separate the manner and trajectory of their gestures like their verbs? Did English speakers combine them? Of course, the standard methodology of showing videos wouldn’t work with blind participants, so the researchers built three dimensional models of events for people to feel before they discussed them.
The results showed that blind Turkish speakers gesture like their sighted counterparts, and the same for English speakers. All Turkish speakers gestured significantly differently from all English speakers, regardless of sightedness. This means that these particular gestural patterns are something that’s deeply linked to the grammatical properties of a language, and not something that we learn from looking at other speakers.

So many interesting potential follow-up studies! For example, do Turkish-English bilinguals use the appropriate gestures in each language, or do they show transfer effects from their first language? It also seems plausible to me that there might be some gestures that come with language while others might be learned by imitation (perhaps iconic gestures like rolling and down versus arbitrary gestures like thumbs up).
