Day Of The Dead, Decoded: A Joyful Celebration Of Life And Food

The ancient Latin American holiday welcomes ancestors back to the earth for one day each year. Each element on the altar symbolizes a connection between the world of the living and the dead, so naturally, food and drink play a big part. Here we've deconstructed the altar and its meaning.

That’s why this year we’re offering activities under the theme “Raising Missoula’s Spirits” and we’re taking a broad view of what that means. Take a look at more great events for "Raising Missoula's Spirits:" Friday, Oct. 23, 4 pm: Distillery Walking Tour-Dewey Decimal Punch, anyone? Register for a ticket to MPL’s tour of Missoula Distilleries at http://tinyurl.com/raisemslaspirits. We’ll stroll from the Library and visit two distilleries, with a tour of the plant at Montgomery.
