The chancellor of Bishops U, introduced Laura, as the spouse of Poulin, and also acknowledge Poulin’s mom and dad. Then he said stand up. Laura did not stand up right away because she thought it was only Poulin’s parents who were invited to. Then the chancellor said Laura you too, stand up and kept saying it until she did.

I’m smiling because the way Laura is trying to stay the most invisible is exactly how they were to each other when we all did not know they were a couple. It is both sad and sweet.

Sad because queer people often hide the person who supports them the most in their day to day life, and this reminded me of that. Sweet because you see a wife trying to stay as small as possible so that the day is about her wife.

Side note: Laura Stacey’s has been called : Poulin’s partner, Poulin’s spouse, Poulin’s teammate, Poulin’s life partner…😅😅😅

Now can they find a single name to call her?

Poor Stacey ears are right in front of the bagpipes.

In a women’s league if you don’t give women a first chance to coach, who will? Men have plenty of leagues where they are given chances. I understand the need to hire who is available but I would like to remind PWHL teams that when they are hiring coaches, if they are to hire a man with no experience, they should instead hire a woman with no experience. Equal competence/experience (or lack of it in this case) should result in favoring women. In the same vein, when facing two equally competent/experienced coaches, you must pick the woman. This is how we will have more women coaching at higher levels.

Could it be possible that Detroit offers the EFO to KCS? If so, Roque could possibly stay in Mtl because the next best thing she will have is a FPO and if so, she will not accept to lose more than 20K US$ to play in an environment with no established structures. Now if Roque doesn’t want exclusively Detroit but is willing to accept any EFO, then SJ or Vegas could also offer her that. But I do believe Roque is not a player you build a team around, she is one who needs players with high hockey IQs, players who are hard workers and players who can make sure she is playing hard too. She has that in Mtl with the first line and neither Stacey or Poulin is letting her have a day off. She had a great attitude in Mtl, attitude which was lacking with NY. So I think GMs who know the game very well, won’t risk picking her if they can’t assemble at least one line just like the one she had in Mtl.

Gosling on the other end could be picked up on an EFO and unfortunately, we will lose her. Best case scenario for Gosling is multiple EFOs so that she will have agency and pick her own team.

Let’s hope miracle happens and she stays in Mtl but if you know Hockey, you take her right away as she is imo better than Barnes and Barnes is already a top D.

Un Anon en message privé: what if Mtl found a way to temper without it being obvious and this is why Jessie Eldridge was celebrating with the team.

Anon you know what? I can see it be happening. Dan is smart enough to have Stacey bringing Eldridge and meeting her future GM, coach and else.

All Victoire celebrations drinks (in bars I assume) were on Laura Stacey’s tab? I hope it is because she is an alternate captain and is just making sure all bills are collected so that the maths can match (and she will be refunded by the team or the league) or because she is president of The PWHLPA and there is a little budget for the Walter cup champs.

Either way, Roque giving away this info and saying Poor Stacey must be broke now with how much they drank.

- The team is great and now we have a "Today is today" with a small "I love it", all that for our favorite Lina Ljungblom. I hope Sam Isbell will show us where to get one too.

At the varsity level, I used to see female athletes with very high GPA and often on the all academic team (which is a reward for maintaining a high GPA while doing sport at a high level).

In Canada which is the field I know the best, you had to have 80% or higher. Student athletes train for hours in a week and are also having hours of class and academic work and else. Some with no scholarships also worked part time jobs.

Not every student athletes in every sports have scholarships, not in Québec at least so it is a tough road but some will be in medecine, physiotherapy, business administration, economics and so on.

So, for most of the PWHL players who went to university (most if not all from the US and Canada) they all have at least a bachelor or a degree that they can turn to if needed.

I love how Christine is impressed by how well spoken and charismatic Laura Stacey is. She is seing her on TV because she said she is also telegenic 😂.

Mind you, Laura has a bachelor in economics and another discipline I can’t remember and was probably doing something alongside BI or business dev or data analysis at Mizuno (if memory serves me well), and considering she was envisioning a MBA, I think she might be a future GM or league data analyst or operation something something.

But she also coached (was in the coaching staff) at McGill U and is pedagogical according to Christine so she might be a future coach who knows

Anyway, funny to hear that
