This is my Fields of Mistria sideblog for my farmer, Marigold Blume ("please, 'Ari' is okay!"), and her journey coming into Mistria!

This game has had me by the throat since early access and I'm going through and decorating everything the way I imagine - with a mix of some modded items/furniture/outfits and vanilla.

I'm enjoying being full cringe and writing some fun little blurbs of fanfiction and screenshots of my farmer's journey in her first couple of years in Mistria. Please note that I do play a modded game, so I'll use furniture and cosmetic mods in my playthrough!

Mistgrove Farm: Spring

I finally finished my whooooole farm design and made it to Spring for a photo in full bloom!

This has been such a labor of love as I tried to consider all the things that Marigold would do to entertain the townsfolk on her farm and make use of the land she's committed to cultivate for Mistria's restoration. From a once-cursed (not haunted, despite what Dell says!) orchard of Mistrian cherry trees to the ranching area she tends with Hayden's incredible support, Mistgrove Farm is now complete ♥

So OOC, since Ari is definitely going to wife up Balor in my game, I wanted to check out March's romance.

Initially, the tsundere thing had Ari really annoyed but I think she softens a lot to him here. I don't know if they'll canonically have a romance, but I'm just saying like I GET IT.

I love that Hemlock celebrates the romances blossoming - with Balor *and* with March. He's such a supporter of the young men embracing their vulnerabilities to break down walls and find love and that's just beautiful lol

And he's so considerate once that shell cracks open! What a cutie pie, I see you March x Farmers, I see you and I respect you.

Marigold's farm, which I kept named the default 'Mistgrove Farm,' canonically has these weird violet misty fogs that roll in every morning over the farm - kind of like the marine layer on a coast, just a heavy mist that thins as it gets closer to the house.

I decided to make her farm reflect the fog with the Misty Sofa! There is another item that I cannot wait to use as replacements (they're storage chests that look like the Mist, but I need more of them)

The fog is caused by the density of Essence that is cultivated in the farm - in my headcanon, I tried to keep Essence's random appearances canon, so Essence is a naturally-occurring crystal as far back as Mistrians can remember. They show up when someone works their land or practices a skill - when the community invests in improving themselves and helping each other, the land rewards them with Essence-dense crystals of their dragon god's magic.

(god more headcanons (and sort of spoilers? I show it in the first scene, literally the hook so we're going to say lukewarm spoiler) incoming to show a thing I don't even have yet lol)

In my fic (still outlining, but I'm getting there on a rough draft of the first few scenes!), Essence is basically crystallized magic - it can be used to cast spells by those who are Mist-touched (in my headcanon, BALOR *cough cough* and a few others).

The fog is a density of magic that feeds the purple cherry trees on her farm and enriches the soil, causing the produce to be widely demanded once Ari gets the wine and fruit goods selling!

Time to hunt down Mist Spots every day until I get a bunch of purple ones
