The crowds of people out at the moment were thinâ most people were probably still sleeping in, and those that were up actually had things to do, but Miyeon knew better than to let her guard down. The second she did would be the second when someone got bored and went looking for a new victim and lo and behold, sheâd be everyoneâs favorite to destroy once again. And sure, Adrienne was one of her closest friends at one pointâ but her company wasnât worth losing her well being, and especially not when there wasnât a single peep from the Ruler when everyone turned and decided that she wasnât worthy of what she was entitled to. âThatâs not up for you to decide, you know that.â Not unless she was willing to take the fall with her, and no one was stupid enough to do that. She let out a scoff, better than dishing out bitter words that would ruin their morning, though she was sure it would be inevitable sooner or later. âThat sounds perfect. I brought all my best moisturizers with me and it still feels like my skin has been cracking all over. Has me honestly ready to go home already.â
àź~ Miyeon had every right to feel the way she did and say whatever it was that she felt was right but that didnât mean that Adrienne did not get hurt over the remark. Despite all her efforts, it was blatantly obvious that things were never going to be the same between them. Whatâs done is done and it would be foolish to try and force things to be as they were before. She doubted that telling Miyeon that she cared very little for the social hierarchy in place in their school would do anything to win her friendship back because Ari did care for it even though it was only a small concern compared to how much otherâs valued it. Obviously, changing the subject was the best option for them right now and so that was what she did. âThatâs settled then, Iâll change our schedules when we get to the spa.â Then, right on cue, they stop in front of the elevator waiting to lead them up to the spa center. âLetâs go.â
