Jane Eyre Book Cover Revised (Midterm Project)

Jane Eyre follows the story of a young woman who, after a life of hardship and abuse from her aunt and school teachers, moves from her home to become a governess at Thornfield Hall. While there, she falls in love with her master, Mr. Rochester. On the day of their wedding, Jane discovers Mr Rochester has another wife--a mentally unstable woman he was tricked into marrying 15 years before. Jane is faced with the choice between giving into her passions and being with the man she loves despite his marriage or upholding her moral beliefs and leaving him.

The book has a fire and ice motif, representing Jane’s passions (fire) and convictions (ice). I used partially-masked images of fire and ice surrounding a silhouette of a 1840s dress (representing Jane) to represent the inner fight between Jane’s passion and her convictions, which play a heavy role on her decision-making throughout the story.
