Smiling Marley shifted to sit up, leaning over she gently cupped Kitty’s cheeks. The shower was like everything else in their apartment - small, but good enough.  Kitty stripped off and started the water, giving it a minute to warm up before she stuck her hand under.  A few turns of the hot water later, she finally nodded and stepped under.  It wouldn’t go down as her longest shower by any means, but she was clean and wrapped in a warm towel as she made her way back to the bedroom a few minutes later.  The closed door was a surprise, but she made her way inside and closed it behind her - only for the towel to drop as she caught sight of Marley on the bed.  “Holy…god…” she managed in a choked voice.  “I…wow.”

“Really? Aw that is really sweet...Did you say yes? Because if so I’ll have to find an outfit...And think of a way not to tell him that he scares me” she pointed out, giggling. Returning the kiss she smiled, giving Kitty a small thumbs up. The moment the bathroom door was closed and she heard the shower Marley gave Scout a small grin. “I’ll give you treats tomorrow, because I know you are going to pout about having to stay out here,” she commented, petting the dog for a moment before hurrying into the bedroom. 

Quietly shutting the door she was quick to strip out of her lounge clothes, glancing over her appearance once more in the mirror and making sure everything still looked, well...like it was supposed to. With a small deep breath she moved to sit on the edge of the bed, crossing her legs as she rested her hands behind her, quickly shaking her head she debated for a moment before crawling fully on to the bed, laying down on her back on Kitty’s side she pulled her hair over her shoulder, letting her fingers absently brush against the blankets as she waited.

Looking up at her she slowly arched a brow. “Hey! That’s my move, you can’t steal it. But c’mon it’ll be worth it. I promise,” she murmured, leaning down as she brought their lips together again, gently grazing dull nails along the back of Kitty’s neck.

“Gross,” Kitty laughed with a shake of her head.  “But as long as your brain went to cute instead of horrifying, then I’m happy enough.  And the idea of all those cupcakes really makes me not care if I was drooling or not.”  Marley’s teasing made her laugh again, and she nodded.  “Yeah, the birthday thing seems more likely.”  Letting herself be led across the room, Kitty looked into Marley’s eyes as their heads rested together.  “I’m sad we couldn’t do that either, but we’ll just have to make up for it tonight.”  Scout tried to steal her spot, but fortunately Marley noticed before they sat on the dog.  “I should hope so, because I know I love you the most.  Every time I come home to our little apartment and hit the door so it opens properly, I’m happy because I know you’re on the other side.”

Giggling Marley nudged her nose against Kitty’s before leaning back a little to look at her. “As romantic as that is...My key almost broke again, and I would have felt so bad if you had to fix it like last time. So, you should teach me your little trick so I don’t get locked out,” she pointed out, absently playing with the hair on the back of Kitty’s neck. “So, my beautiful birthday girl. What do you want to do first? Just hang out for a bit, or do you want to eat, or shower...Or do you want your present first?”

Kitty’s cheek was warm where Marley’s lips had touched, and she couldn’t wipe the smile from her face.  “I must have really been out, the smell alone should have woke me up.”  She pursed her lips and blew gently until the flame was snuffed out, leaning happily into the kiss.  “Thank you, love.  This is definitely the best thing to come home to.”  Kitty slid her shoes off and put them aside before taking one of Marley’s hands in hers.  “Really good, actually.  School was good, and even work was bearable.  Someone must have told them it was my birthday.  How about you?” she leaned in to steal another kiss.  “Did you have a good day?”

“You were very drooly, it was cute though” she told her, giggling a little. “And now you have lots to eat!” gently playing with Kitty’s fingers she smiled softly. “Or maybe they just like you, but you’re right it’s probably that” she teased, leaning into the kiss she gently let her free hand rest against Kitty’s cheek. “Mhm, I missed you though. I thought about you all day and how I was sad I didn’t get the chance to just cuddle you for your birthday,” she explained, pressing their foreheads together before gently leading Kitty over to the couch. Giggling a little as she moved Scout she playfully nudged Kitty to sit down before sitting on her lap. “You know I love you the most right?”
