KZSU Interviews Dr. Elena Polyakova, Co-Founder Graphene 3D Lab
In 2016, the graphene market is about $110 Million; Dr. Elena Polyakova expects the graphene market to become a multi-million dollar market over the next 10 years. In the interview Dr. Polyakova discussed how the company was started when no graphene products were commercially available and how she and her husband, Dr. Daniel Stolyarov were among the first to make graphene filaments commercially available for 3D printed products. Today, Graphene 3D Lab has many customers including NASA, HP, Apple, Ford Motor Company, MIT, Yale and Stanford University. Graphene materials are now used in sensors, as shock absorbers in the construction industry and many other fields.
Dr. Polyakova said that Graphene 3D Lab could work with science teachers to develop projects that interest Middle and High School students in using graphene filaments in 3D printing. We also discussed how 3D printing with graphene filaments will change manufacturing, including car and drone manufacturing. Graphene 3D Lab distributes some of its products through its wholly owned subsidiary, Graphene Supermarket.Dr. Polyakova had advice for students who are interested in studying nano materials-materials and for people who would like to start their own companies.

KZSU Interviewed Dr. Kieran Harty, Tintri Founder Dr. Kieran Harty talked to KZSU about Tintri's business model for producing VM-Aware storage (VAS) and managing cloud environments. Dr. Harty also talked about how Tintri's products help businesses use public and private cloud storage. Tintri's customers can manage up to 160,000 VMWare machines and 10 PB of data in minutes. Tintri was named Visionary by the 2016 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Solid-State Arrays, Dr. Harty who received his Ph.D. in EE from Stanford had advice for students who want to start their own companies and he also said that Tintri has a summer internship program that helps students develop in many different fields. Stanford Professor Jo Boaler and The Mathematics Revolution: Professor Boaler's talk The Mathematics Revolution: Helping Children Learn and Love Mathematics was recorded by KZSU during Stanford's Homecoming Reunion Weekend. During the talk Professor Boaler discussed how positive mindsets can encourage greater persistence, engagement and high mathematics achievement. KZSU interviewed Andy Hnilo, founder and CEO, Alitura Naturals about their new, all natural skin care products. Andy developed his skin care line to help reduce the scars that he had after an accident in 2011. Andy believes that the skin responds best to natural ingredients that come directly from the earth, rather than chemicals or synthetic formulations. In oiur interview, Andy mentioned how he experimented with different natural ingredients after his accident until he found the right mix that helped him and that he now manufactures in Oahu, Hawaii and sells in 40 countries.
