“It’s really good. Can I keep it?” He asked, trying to focus on something other than the stinging of his bruises, or the haze that the cheap alcohol had left in his head.”Um…” He look down at his bloody knuckles and grimaced, thinking about how badly he felt he had messed things up with Clement and shook his head. “I don’t think so…just had a really shitty day and I guess I’m doing a bad job or trying to work it out.”
“Thanks, I’m glad you like it.” She smiled as she nodded her head, letting him know that it was his to keep. She moved to tuck her legs under her body. Her eyes drifted to his knuckles and she nodded her head. She dug into her bag and handed him a band aid. “I know it’s not much….but…here.” She offered as she gave him an apologetic smile. “Shitty days can make the best of us turn into a mess. So don’t be too hard on yourself.”
He took it with a genuine smile. The acts of kindness he’d seen in Klamenth Falls were absolutely outstanding, and this girl was no different. How could such a nice place exist? He wrapped it around the worse of the cuts and folded up the drawing delicately before slipping it into his bag. “Thanks. Things aren’t all bad, I just gotta stay positive. Sometimes it’s just hard to find the silver lining, you know?”
