& 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓'𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐇𝐄'𝐒 𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐓𝐎𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐌 . leaving leila to watch the kitchen : to make sure their batter doesn’t just jump out of the bowl & head for the front door . as of this point , they’ve created something that’s closer to 𝐅𝐋𝐔𝐁𝐁𝐄𝐑 than actual pancake mix . the champ won’t bring up the fact that they used a box mix too . he approaches maureen’s bedside & very carefully nudges her arm with a section of his hand that wasn’t covered in pale batter . ❛ mo , baby … quick question . when y’make pancakes — do y’put th’shit — th’chocolate chips in the batter thing first , or do y’put them in when the pancake’s on th’stove already ? ❜ ( @mohope )
SLEEP IS A LUXURY NOT OFTEN AFFORDED in a house that seemingly always needs to be up and out of the door before dawn. As the keeper of schedules, Maureen was typically the first up to ensure a smooth exit when they would all inevitably be rushing to get on their way. ( There’s COMFORT in the chaos, a system to be found in juggling rehearsals and practices, training sessions and doctor’s appointments. ) It’s a gift, then, to finally put black-out curtains to use as Maureen captures extra time in a bed that is nearly criminally comfortable. Today there is no where they need to BE, today sleep is blissfully afforded.
BY THE TIME BILLY CREEPS IN , a skill he has never quite mastered ( quick as he may be in the ring ), Mo is in transition between the waking world and a dream that doesn’t seem all that off. Though slurred, and muffled through a face half-hidden in a pillow, she still answers, “ On th’stove. ” Hazel eye trending more green today opens to the world, already curious as to the going’s ons in it. Her smile isn’t far behind, “ You’re makin’ pancakes? ”
