Ever struggle to find the right way to explain rock climbing to non-climbers? Try this, it will DEFINITELY clear up the confusion....
This Flick Pick follows Sean Villanueva and Siebe Vanhee’s 2015 expedition on the Tsaranoro massif in Madagascar, where they embark on a ground-up ascent on an unclimbed vertical ocean of granite.
And in typical Sean Villanueva fashion, this trip is filled with plenty of ridiculous shenanigans for you to enjoy.
… It’s always better to do it in your underwear!

We’ve all heard about the dangers of rappelling off the end of ropes ... But could we make a simple change as a community and industry to help prevent this?
Meet Seb Bouin—a 5.15 climber you probably haven’t even heard of.
When Seb’s not busy teaching in Paris, he gets on the road with his trailer, Fleurette, and heads to the crag to take on some of the world’s hardest climbs. And who’s his greatest climbing partner? His mom.

One of the many joys of travel is connecting with locals, but having to teach complete beginners how to climb is a responsibility not to be taken lightly.
You see hangboards in just about every gym and in any dedicated climber's home, but why? Here's what training guru Eric Hörst has to say on the matter.
It only takes about 10 seconds to enter.
If you can't sit through hours of comp bouldering streams, here's the best stuff ... in just 3min.
What happens when you're 25 feet runout and find a tiny, trickling waterfall separating you from the next bolt? The answer may surprise you.
Black people don’t climb.
That’s what a Google search told Mikhail Martin, co-founder of Brothers of Climbing (BOC).
From that point on, Mikhail made it his mission to challenge that misconception.
By promoting a more welcoming environment for people of color to explore rock climbing, BOC—a group which started at New York’s Brooklyn Boulders—aims to break down barriers to entry and increase the involvement of minorities in the outdoors.
This week’s Friday Flick Pick introduces us to some of the faces behind the growing community that is, Brothers of Climbing.

Do climbing grades define your measure of success in your climbing progress? Spenser of The RV Project shares his thoughts on what's in a climbing grade.
The core muscles of the torso are called into play on every climbing move.
Most of us know that a strong core is the foundation for any strong climber. And, if you’re going to trust any authority on the subject, then it ought to be Eric Hörst—one of the leading authorities on climbing performance.
With well over 30 years of experience under his belt—and still crushing—he has plenty of wisdom to share. In this video, Eric offers five training exercises that can help you develop a stronger core.
For more information from this training guru, consider picking up the newest edition of his book, Training for Climbing: The Definitive Guide to Improving Your Performance.
