the thing about drawing humans is that i literally draw my anthro bodies just like humans, plantigrade legs and all, using all-human references, yet every time i draw a human it turns out like shit body and all. youd think i could draw a human body just fine and its only the face and head that look weird but that isnt true. i cant tell if this is A. because drawing humans is boring as fuck so my brain rushes through it to get it over with or B. because some part of my brain can only balance the body if it has ears and a tail and everything gets thrown off when those arent included. but then again my sona has a bobbed tail and i have no problems drawing her...

like no joke the other day i saw someone with "do NOT change this characters body type EVER i WILL block you do not attack me if you cant draw them accurately" and the characters gallery page. with very little exaggeration. looked like this

the call is coming from inside the house my friend it is okay if you cant draw your own OC consistently or changed their design I DO IT ALL THE TIME but either do not include inaccurate refs in their gallery or dont be a dick about it its really not hard

regarding artfight i think it is reasonable to be frustrated with people not drawing your characters correctly but i think that having multiple paragraph long all-caps rants in the character permissions is discouraging more genuine people from trying than it is dissuading people who will purposefully draw your characters wrong (because let's be honest those people are not reading your perms anyways)

additionally if i had a dollar for every time i saw someone write. idk. "DO NOT DRAW MY OC SKINNY OR I WILL KILL MYSELF AND BLOCK YOU AND ALL YOUR MUTUALS AND MAKE A CALLOUT POST ABOUT YOUR ON TWITTER DOT COM LINKING PEOPLE TO YOUR SHIT DRAWING" in their perms. only to click on the characters images and have them be... extremely inconsistent in terms of body type of having one or more images OF THE CHARACTER SKINNY in their gallery... i would have... probably more than enough money to get a little heart icon next to my username LOL

i literally remember a few years ago i saw an artist like "oh my god im shaking im so upset someone drew my sona skinny im crying rn" with their post gaining a ton of traction with everyone in the comments ripping the person who drew for them to shreds and i thought "aw it sucks to have your characters not drawn correctly maybe i will try to draw for them" so i clicked on their page and. the character had literally 2 images in their gallery one of which WAS SKINNY AND MATCHED THE BODY TYPE OF THE "hurtful" ATTACK 😭 and they still didnt fucking remove the skinny ref after this event that supposedly deeply affected them???

#or people who will be like 'well i dont care if people dont attack me if they dont do it right'#but then will also complain they dont get attacks...?#dude i am pretty confident in drawing characters with a wife variety of features and i am going to avoid the all caps rant people im ngl #there comes a point where dissuading people from trying will lead to less people being able to draw your OCs #because youre making them scared to try by posting callout posts about them #and leaving the artist open to harassment... lol #and im not joking btw ive seen people put teenagers on blast for #following one ref on their characters page but not the other contradictory ref. huh???

i ended up desaturating her colors in the finished piece because i dont like how this looks. i also briefly colored her hair with carols fur color and it looked kinda cool so maybe ill be a blonde dess truther?
