in spite of all the barriers, all the delays, all the intimidation tactics by the state, over 10,000 people of Karachi came and waited eight hours for Manzoor to arrive. and when the people’s leader, Manzoor Pashteen arrives, he says “I traveled 60 hours nonstop, but for my people, for you all in Karachi, I will travel 60 years if i have to”. Balochi and Sindhi missing persons’ families were given a platform on the stage, the Hazara families were supported in Quetta. Punjabi peasants from Okara were given support. a Pashtun people’s resistance transcending ethnic struggle and allying with all other oppressed peoples of pakistan; against enforced disappearances, against humiliation by the state, against crackdown and killings of their people. women and men, and transpeople, in unison. this is the true spirit of solidarity, and I’m so lucky to be alive, and to be in this city to witness it all. it is such a shame that the mainstream media of pakistan will not show you this, but it makes perfect sense. they are scared. they are scared for young minds to see how beautiful struggle and solidarity can be. they are afraid of accountability. #DaSangaAzadiDa #PashtunLongMarch2Karachi (at Al Asif Square)
