practices to bond with your deities
i'm most familiar with Greco-Roman deities so i'll use them for examples, but feel free to ask me about a specific deity! which Greco-Roman deity you should work according to your birth chart indications
communication
say "good morning" / "good night" - this is not only out of respect but developing a habit to include them more and more in day to day life
talk to them - whether you're expressing gratitude, praying, asking for advice, or even just talking to them about your day, this will show you are thinking about them and looking up to them. if you feel uncomfortable or can't talk out loud, a journal works just as well
write to them - speaking or journaling, writing is an art form they will appreciate. make journal entries to them, write them a poem or a song. it doesn't have be a fancy, even just phrases here and there will make a huge difference
document your experiences - after spending time with them, write down how it went. keep track of what they seem to like, what they tell you, even small details that don't seem to stick out because when you go back and look, they might stick out then or you might notice patterns
share your food - giving your deity a small portion of your food each time you eat is a way to communicate your honor and respect to them, and also learn what foods/drinks they enjoy
divination - this is more than just tarot cards! there's other forms of cartomancy, there's dowsing, numerology, etc. i personally use astrology <3
connect with their energy - doing activities that appeal to your deity regularly with strengthen your connection with them. for example, my deities are Diana/Artemis and Luna/Selene, so I spend a lot of time in nature, especially at night under the moonlight
honoring
research them in great detail - to get to know your deity, learn everything there is to know: names and epithets, symbols, attributes (plants trees, stones, animals, planets, week days, etc.) domains, family, popular stories and myths
cook a full meal - you can decide on a meal that is associated with them (like steak for Mars/Ares) but you don't have to, either way just dedicating time and energy to make an entire meal just for them will say a lot
altar - this is probably what you will hear the most, but don't feel heavy pressure. it doesn't have to be huge, fancy, or expensive; you can start out with literally just a candle and some leaves. slowly over time decorate and personalize it to your and your deity's liking
offerings - this is more than just sharing your food with them, it's actually giving something solely to them. have you ever been in the mood for a certain food even though you weren't hungry at all? that might be them hinting that they want it. gifts that you think they'd like or you felt called to get, including crafts you made yourself
share your worship - i want to say this is 100% not a necessity, so don't feel stressed if there is no one you can talk to about your deity work. i have no one to talk to about it, but i share freely on this blog and am trying to make friends online who i can share with! not only is sharing a way to show respect and love for them, but others can give you ideas of devotion and connection
creation/digital
going digital is a great way to worship and connect with your deity, especially if you cannot be open about it
make a playlist - include songs that remind you of them or that you'd think they'd like that involve their domains or stories/myths
art - literally any form of art they will appreciate. music like singing or songwriting, drawing, painting, sculpture, literature like reading books they'd like or writing stories, poems, songs, etc., dancing, theater or acting, or literally anything else. you can get specific, like learning an instrument for Apollo
exploring - exploring areas you think they'd like or just new areas in general. you might find points of interest they'd enjoy (like crossroads for Hecate), or see/hear their sacred animals, or find things that coincide with their stories/attributes/symbols
spending time with them through hobbies - the best way i can describe this is through examples: going to parties/celebrating for Bacchus/Dionysus, cleaning and taking care of your home for Vesta/Hestia, gardening for Ceres/Demeter or Proserpina/Persephone, taking care of the ocean for Neptune/Poseidon, the list goes on and on. anything that involves their domain
pinterest board - kinda self explanatory, making a pinterest board (or a physical picture board/wall if you prefer) with images of your deity and their symbols/attributes. here's mine
phone background - setting your phone background as an image or your deity is not only a sign of honor and respect, but will help you develop the habit of thinking of them regularly. can also spark conversation with others without being direct about your worship!

“CAELESTI INFERNUM” - Four Horses of the Apocalypse by Isis Sangaré
are people online really promoting the idea that each crystal has a “lifespan” metaphysically and should be replaced after that time? that’s not sustainable and holy shit what kind of idiot really believes that a rock can sit nicely for 300 million years and still keep its ~ magic ~ but also believe that you have to replace your stone after 4-5 months because it’s “not magical anymore”
Is this affiliated with black/evil magic?
Using the term "black magic" when referring to any type of malign magical practices is always a bad choice. That term is innately based in racist ideologies. Curses, hexes and any type of more aggressive magic is prevalent in any spiritual practice, and it is usually up to the practitioner to decide what to do with their tools. I keep a keen dark aesthetic to most of my work, though there exists very positive meanings present in most of it.

I reblogged a post about this a few days ago but "triple goddess/mother maiden & crone" is not an ancient concept, it's an incredibly modern and purely wiccan concept, and I will thank you all to stop forcing it on Irish deities that have more than one epithet and/or sometimes take the form of an old woman. old ladies and things occurring in sets of three have been around for a while, folks.
Self Protection Jar
This is a throwback to an old spell that uses a lot of sharp items to create a protection jar. Using sharp objects like thumbtacks, pins or broken pieces of glass is a way to create a ‘psychic fence’ so to speak. That way anything negativity coming towards you will be pushed back or deflected by all the sharp objects surrounding your energy field.
What you’ll need
1 clean and cleansed jar (see note on this post on how to cleanse your jar)
Sharp items (Thumbtacks, pins, opened safety pins, needles. If you’re going to use broke glass PLEASE BE CAREFUL)
Add in any protection herbs or crystals if you choose to but I usually skip this step.
Something that binds you to the jar such as fingernail filings or a lock of hair. The original spell asked for drops of blood but that’s a whole different thing if you want to do that. I recommend just using hair because of the risk of infection by cutting yourself.
Cleansing your jar
It’s important to cleanse your jar first and foremost. You can use any jar (Hello salsa and sauce jars!) Clean them out super well. If you are stuck with a smelly jar that has retained a strong odor even after washing out thoroughly you can rinse the jar with vinegar or let it sit overnight. That will usually get rid of any smell.
Once you have cleaned your jar, I simply cleanse it by using incense. Light your incense and let the smoke thoroughly fill up your jar before releasing it into the air.
What to do
Set up your spell with any provisions you would normally use. Light candles, incense, and have any crystals out that you feel connect you to your magic. Protect your space by imagining a white light in a circle around you encasing the jar and sharp objects inside.
Place each object inside until your jar is at least ¼ to ½ of the way full. Last, add a lock of hair or item that you chose to bind this jar to you.
Once everything is inside, close the jar. If you want to seal the jar with wax you can take a candle and drip wax on top of the jar or on the sides letting the wax drop down into the seal.
Close your spell and release your circle.
Take your jar and hide it in a dark place where no one will find it.

okay so, genuinely, please explain your recent post? i sort of assumed that us white witches couldnt touch any practice by BIPOC out of respect for it, but now im a little confused. i dont want to sound snippy, im genuinely curious
Simply put: not every nonwhite tradition/religion is closed. Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Shintoism, Kemetism, to name a few, are all open.
And some of the closed practices will invite outsiders to participate to an extent, depending on how/what the native practitioners determine to be appropriate.
Automatically putting everything that white people didn't originally come up with in the "closed" pile is racist AF. That's not respect. That's segregation (white people should only do white people things and POC should only do POC things).
also!
most times white witches^tm do the thing where they put all BIPOC practices in the Naughty Corner for Bad Witches, they put it in like. the "highest level" of closed. its like they created a classification for how closed something is based on how black it is, which is incredibly weird bc thats not really how that works.
so anyways, in this "highest level of closed," its disrespectful to even learn about it. which ofc creates misinformation and makes it so yt ppl can simultaneously gatekeep bipoc culture for bipoc people whilst deeming those same cultures and practices too black or too asian or too "exotic" to actually learn about enough to respect
btw, this is where you get things like yt ppl saying that egg cleanses are closed, and that theyre also just rubbing an egg over your body and cracking it into water to "see if you get cursed." like. like a yes or no question? idek
basically, they discourage information about the closed practice from coming out in order to redefine it for themselves. this is jow you get things like people saying poppets are closed, because theyre "too similar to voodoo dolls." this kinda shit happens because white saviors wanna simplify our practices to make the work easier for them, and then they push the simplified version to the point where the actual practice seems watered down to outsiders, and they conflate it with something completely different.
my point is, for most "closed practices," the best thing to do is listen to those in that practice and (if its ok based on what ppl in that culture say) find out what that practice is so you can avoid it instead of listening to white people explain it for BIPOC
100% this!
Gods know, I've had my fair share of white witches™ whitesplaining my own culture to me and thinking they're doing me a favor. 🙄
