i think rocket monkeys is one of the few examples of things that got dogged on to death before people could even see it. alot of what people post about those cartoons can easily ruin the internets perception
(it doesn't only have to apply to cartoons though. remember when people shat on the boyfriends webtoon to the point where a lot of haters harassed the creator of it. i guess that could also apply to rocket monkeys because people who hate it harassed the people who worked on it including gus and wallys va's)
i honestly don't think rocket monkeys was made to be taken seriously in the first place. it's a show about monkey brothers who get into antics in space. people ended up taking it so serious just because of the toilet humor that the creators were called pedophiles for it. #lol. #lmao.
Exactly. At the end of the day, it's a cartoon from the 2010s that the vast online space dug up and paraded around for a few months until it was time to move on to the next thing. But it definitely never should've led to the harassment of the creators as well as the VAs simply because of the fact that it contained what many thought as being an excessive amounts of detailed toilet/gross-out humor that mainly comes from the later season(s) anyways. Especially when it comes to the creators receiving such a bold and serious accusation that should NEVER be thrown around so casually. It's disgusting how some people online nowadays see no issue with making these types of claims without even thinking about how much harm it can cause someone and also how it makes the word lose all seriousness in it's meaning. Not to mention that the existence of Cornelius as a character throws out and ends the whole age discourse about Gus and Wally.
While it's still occasionally brought up on Twitter, it's more of like a 'cautionary tale' of a comparison whenever people start talking about making another piece of animated media the next big focus of their attention. But as someone who's been actually watching the entire show, Rocket Monkeys being treated as if it killed everyone's grandma when in reality, it's just a dumb show that as you stated, shouldn't be taken seriously whatsoever and goes to show how the internet almost expects everything and anything to be this deep, emotional, and story-driven gem when no I simply find it funny seeing these two monkeys bicker and argue and yes even find myself laughing at a joke here and there because who actually cares toilet humor can still be funny at times it all depends on how it's executed in my opinion. The fact that I've actually had someone tell me to my face that RM is this fetish and pedophilic scat show and that the creators should be in jail for making it is INSANE like dude do you even hear yourself.
I know that this type of humor isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, and people have the right to feel disgusted and find this show gross. But it's an entirely different can of worms when you go out of your way with these visceral and serious assumptions and accusations about the creators, voice actors, and those who are merely giving the series an honest watch bc why not.
