I know everybody complains about lesson 16 and the aftermath. I do too. Everyone agrees that the writing was terrible. It wasn't handled the way it should have been handled, Belphegor was let off the hook so easily, the brothers forget what he's done to MC, We didn't see Mammon's full potential (As in we didn't see Mammon turn to his demon form towards Belphegor) etc etc etc.
What I want, is fan fiction about how it should have turned out. As in, I want people to give me their alternate versions of the aftermath of Lesson 16.
Because bro. Some angst would be good.
I know I'm like INCREDIBLY late for this but this is something I've been thinking about recently 🥀
I have my own interpretation to how my MC would have handled the situation. I mean, One, they die. Then they suddenly get resurrected by Barbatos. My MC would have been panicking over the idea of them not being the original MC. As in they'll have an existential crisis. I made my MC the type of person who cares a lot about their individuality and independence, so they'll be freaking out over the idea that they are not the "real" them but a clone of the original version if that makes sense.
Two, if the brothers are going to suddenly forget the shit they've done to MC, especially Belphegor's actions, My MC would have been fuming. They would have been closed off and angry. Ain't no way are they going to interact with the brothers after everything that has happened.
Three. The guilt and shame my MC would feel if they reported or said anything about Belphegor's doing. Belphegor is back, everyone was happy about it, everything has been fixed, they're family again, Welcome back Belphegor
My MC, despite being angry at the shit that's happened, would feel awful if they were the reason Belphegor has been locked up for his crimes, despite being locked away before. And like foo just got out afterwards 😭 They can't say anything about Belphegor or else Diavolo would have taken him away again. More distress and sadness. Everyone is back to being miserable. They don't want that.
Four. My MC moves out the House of Lamentation and moves in Purgatory Hall because bro. Their murderer lives with them now 🥀
Feel like Diavolo wouldn't take in the gravity of MC's situation with Belphegor so I imagine him being like "Yeaaaahh that happened. Sorry about that. Here's Purgatory Hall, Your New Home :D"
(Did I mischaracterize Lord Diavolo? Probably. Call me out)
Five. Some angst going on during Diavolo's birthday party. The part where MC is given gifts by the brothers out of appreciation and gratitude. Bro, Belphegor shouldn't be outside it should be the MC. Like they're just there contemplating everything, dealing with severe trauma. You guys remember the whole "We love you as you MC, not because you're Lillith's descendant?" I made my MC contemplate that too. Like they don't believe it.
That's how I Imagine my MC dealing with the aftermath. I think THAT'S how the MC in general should deal with the aftermath.
Y'all, give me YOUR interpretations. Gimme your fics. Gimme your alternate versions of Obey Me. Give me some Lesson 16 angst. I'm genuinely curious to how others would have interpreted Lesson 16 and their MC's/OC's.
