The sound movement on a gravel rooftop would have alerted any normal citizen to something suspicious. But in these parts, strange noises on the roof were just part of the city soundscape, so the medieval figure that had come down from the sky went mostly unseen as he dismounted his horse, tugged a folded map from some secret pocket, and began to examine it.
".....no, no, you were right. We definitely should have turned right once we crossed the mountains." Gawain would have frowned if he were able as he looked over the map in his hands. The glowing orange horse looking over his shoulder let out a huff of validation.
"Guinevere told ee she knoo where she be a-goin'âŠ" She pricked her ears forward smugly. "If Rider 'ad a mind to listen to Guinevere more, mayhap we wouldnât be runninâ so late, would we?" The knight quickly folded up the map and lightly bonked the horse on the nose, making her jump.
"Oh hush, you." He scolded, though there was no real malice behind it.
The horse spooked immediately at the new voice, digging her front hooves into the rooftop gravel in a splayed stance before blowing in frustration as she straightened up.
"Ah, blast it. N'er scare a horse like that, ye fool!" She snapped, pinning her ears back and pawing at the gravel with one front hoof for emphasis. "If ye were any closer, Guinevere mighta kicked ye, and then whar would ye be, eh?"
"Guinevere, manners..." The knight took what sounded like a deep breath and relaxed his tense hold on the map in his hands before folding it back up. Bollocks. The last thing he'd wanted to do was have a run in with the local vigilantes, but in retrospect, perhaps that had been asking for too much. Gotham just had so damn many of them, it seemed like!
At least the one that had confronted them wasn't Batman. Gawain wasn't sure he'd have been able to keep his composure, then.
"In reverse order of your questions, my name is Gawain and this is Guinevere," The knight gestured toward the glowing horse (who flicked her tail in visible irritation) with the hand that still held the folded map. "And we're only out this way to check in on a friend of ours. Just popped down here to get our bearings, is all.
"You'd think it'd be easier to follow the map when you have a bird's eye view of the roads, but it's surprisingly easy to lose your orientation when you're too high up to read the street signs."
Demonspawnâs eyes widened at the quick realization that the horse on the roof was speaking in a language she understood, and her eyes flickered up to the horseâs rider. A few moments went byâdetective work, as youâd call itâbefore she spoke again, holding the comm link in her ear. âDemonspawn to Oracle. Yeah, itâs a weird one?â
âItâs Gotham, itâs always weird.â Oracle responded promptly. âWhat kind of weird are we talking? Calendar Man weird or Constantine weird?â The question sparked some thought.
âLeaning more towards John. Talking horse and a knight with a map. Says heâs âchecking on a friend.â Ohâand apparently the horse flies.â Demonspawn explained right in front the the pair as they checked their map.
âOkay, lead with the flying horse next time, Dee.â Oracle began clacking on her keyboard to work her own magic. âGive me a few minutes, Iâm gonna call our mystical friends and see if I can get any insight. Try to figure out if we know their âfriend.ââ
âTen-four, Demonspawn out.â She responded and turned her attention back to the visitors of Gotham. âSo, would you mind telling me who your friend is?â

Meanwhile, a dark figure perched on a rooftop nearby. She lay in waiting hoping to catch up on leads as she patrolled the neighborhood. No signs of clowns, nor scarecrows, nor clay or even the suspicious clan of rats. Gotham was awful quiet after the recent escape at Arkham Asylum.
Demonspawn rose from the shadow she hid in, looking amongst the rooftops and down to the streetsâbut just before moving on, she noticed a figure in the distance, the shine of their armor giving away their position. A quick check of her watch let her know none of her own associates were in the vicinity. This suspicious figure may be a newcomer.
âDemonspawn to Oracle, checking a lead. If you donât hear back in the next 10 minutes, send backup.â The vigilante said over her comms, a courtesy to the team she tried her best always to accommodate.
âTen-four, Demonspawn. Standing by.â Oracle responded on the comms. And with the go-ahead, Demonspawn made her approach on foot with tactical precision to avoid giving away her position. After being raised by the League of Shadows and the Batman, nothing less was expected of the assassin-turned-vigilante as she ran towards potential danger like a moth to a flame.
Back on the roof, the knight had once more unfolded the map and was tracing some sort of route across it. The horse had started to pace impatiently behind him, glowing yellow hooves seeming to dig into the gravel and yet displacing none of it. Every few steps, she would freeze and stare off into the surrounding city for a few seconds before resuming her pacing.
"Ugh...why'd we come all this way, eh?" Guinevere snorted and shook her head to toss her forelock out of her eyes. She didn't like this city - it was too loud, too grassless, and had too many strange noises in it. "Ye know 'e won't take kindly t' ye snoopin' on 'im."
"I'm not snooping, I'm-..." Her rider paused for a moment to think. "....chaperoning." He finally finished. Guinevere bobbed her head in an exaggerated nod.
"Aye. From afar." She teased.
"From afar yes look here you." Gawain looked up from the map to glower at his steed. "I wasn't hearing any complaints when I asked you to help me on this cross-country venture." The horse pinned back her ears in irritation
"...yew got Guinevere there." She admitted. "She doanât ever turn down a chance to stretch 'er legs, don' she?"
As Demonspawn continued her approach, she noticed a second figureânonhuman, a horse? She paused and flipped her goggles on to get a better look. The green hue of the lenses faded as she powered her gadget on, starting to zoom in on the targets. âOracle, come in.â
âOn time, as always. How do you do it?â The redhead answered over her comms.
âA timer,â Demonspawn joked, âlike to keep you on your toes.â She began taking snapshots on her tactical lenses. âIâm sending you some images now, two mysterious figures on the rooftops in the Boweryâneed identification.â The vigilante explained to her confidant.
âIs thatâyouâre joking, right? Thatâs a horseâŠon a Gotham rooftop.â Oracle began typing on her computer, keystrokes audible through the microphone. âDee, Iâm not getting any hits on this. Iâm going to keep digging, but donât expect much.â
âHey, did I hear âhorse on the rooftops?ââ Nightwing interjected over comms and Demonspawn rolled her eyes.
âWill you go back to BlĂŒdhaven, already?â She sarcastically answered. âSome of us are trying to work.â
âYouâll miss me when I leave.â He taunted. âNightwing out.â He said, abruptly signing off.
âAnyways, itâs fine, Oracle. Iâm going to move in and figure out what this knight is doing in Gotham. You donât think theyâre from the St. Dumas Order, do you?â Demonspawn took one last scan at the pair. âNot the traditional look, but you know these copycats.â
âIâll look into it. Be safe, check in within ten minutes. Oracle out.â Her line went silent and Demonspawn changed the setting on her goggles before closing the gap on these last few rooftops. Getting closer, she could hear two voicesâstrange. She silently approached, cautious not to alert them.
Dropping onto the roof, a soft noise was made in the gravel. Oddly enough, the horse was the second voice. Sheâd seen weirder, actually, but it never lost its novelty. âWould you mind telling me why youâre here?â Demonspawn asked the pair. âAnd who you are, while youâre at it?â

((Follow up ask: What's your preferred way to start an rp? Planning the plot ahead of time? Winging things with a meme or two? Both??))
((TEEHEE i don't mind winging it at all!! if you set a scene or just intro i'll play along with whichever character until we catch the plot, but if clarification is needed somewhere along the plot i've got no problem working out kinks in DMs!!))
((*slides into your inbox* Hello! Mun of lost-kingsmen here! How are you doing this fine day?))
((fantastic!! how are you love?))
Rules
(Updated May 26, 2025)
How to start an RP
send an ask!
make sure to address the oc of mine you're trying to rp with in your ask (whether it be saying their name in dialogue, description, or an ooc aside)
if you need me to know pertinent info about your oc, DM me!
also, if you have any questions or concerns you can DM me!
you can find my OCs here!
Additional Notes
sensitive/triggering content is fine, and expected as a lot of OCs tend to lean towards some traumaâyou may mention the following in rp, but do not get far into it as it can get awkward to interact with: sexual assault, self harm, suicide attempts, extreme cases of abuseâagain these can be MENTIONED, just don't get super descriptive or overpower the rp with this info
that being said, things you can mention without me caring one single bit: blood, injury, death, drugs, alcohol, guns, knives, any weapons really
^all above will also be tagged "[trigger] tw" if you need to filter it out for any reason
i will not do any smut rp
i only rp as my own OCs
all interactions are non-canon to my characters, but i love to interact with fellow oc havers!
no fandom crossovers please!! (this applies to like marvel/dc or like star wars/percy jackson. yk just ones that donât exist together. this doesnât apply to if you have a dctv oc and i have a flat out dc comics ocâthat can adapt to your universe!!)
if you are a canon character rp, you can start an rp, too! (same rules, as above)
all rps will be tagged â[fandom] rpâ â[subfandom] rpâ â[my oc name] rp]â â[your oc name] rpâ
^examples in order: #dc comics rp #titans rp #carmen kyle rp (and then #[whatever your ocs name is] rp)
