Chinese Cryptidcore

As you enter the valley, you hear boisterous, never-ending laughter. But there is not a soul in sight. The towering trees make it hard to walk.

The flowers and fruits have facial features like smiling human heads, all laughing. These are the great orchards of the renmianshu (人面树).

If you laugh at them, they will laugh back. If they laugh too much, the flowers will fall from the branch and immediately wilt and die.

You can talk to the flowers all you like. They do not understand you. Your questions will not be answered; they can only laugh. If the laughter shakes the fruit too much, it falls from its branch.

When the fruits ripen in the fall, they must be eaten quickly, because it shrivels up and turns hard soon after being picked. It has a sweet and sour taste.

The seeds left behind from the fruit also have human faces. You replant them in the valley to begin the cycle anew.
