Did you know?

There exists a "WWW" that has been around since long before the internet. In fact, it has been under your feet this whole time!

There exists a network of immeasurable vastness in the earth below us. The Wood Wide Web (WWW) is the term given to the Mycorrhizal network – a veritable web of fungi, roots, bacteria and magic that connect plants all over Twisted Wonderland. Mycorrhizal fungi – that is, fungus that lives symbiotically with a plant – fall under two categories:

Ectomycorrhizal, those that surround the roots of a plant. These fungi are mainly found in colder climates, and can help store large amounts of carbon underground.

Arbuscular, those that penetrate the roots of a plant. These fungi are largely found in lower-latitude and more tropical regions, and allow for faster carbon cycling.

According to a recent study, 60% of trees across the world are connected with ectomycorrhizal fungi.

Isn't that just fascinating?
