CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY: Happiness was always being with his family, it was taught to Shea from a young age. Shea was so proud of his family, Sam, his other siblings, his parents, they all worked so hard to do the best, to make everything work. As a go-with-the-flow type, Shea enjoyed going where his siblings went and that’s still never much changed. He was more than happy to help his family and spent a large amount of his time helping mostly around the home, cleaning, cooking. Even when the going got tough, and they were without a home, Shea worked hard to make any place they were, was home. Shea really felt that his little siblings should always feel like they had a home.

  Though it always wasn’t this sunshine and rainbows. As Shea grew there was a clear difference between how he looked and how he felt. Coming to terms with his gender, and his gender expression wasn’t the easiest choice he’s ever made. He spent most of his teenage years trying to suppress that part of himself, not allowing himself to be who he is. Shea’s first taste of change was when he cut off his long blonde hair, getting a cut shorter than his brother’s. He was so happy, and slowly he started taking clothes from his brothers to wear privately. It got to a point where Shea had to make a difficult choice, the chance to live his truth, or… his family.  That was the most difficult conversation he’s ever had with his family. Sitting them all down and trying to explain what Transgender meant, and how it applied to him. Overall, it went… as Shea expected it too, his parents still haven’t fully accepted him, and it’s been six months. They still don’t refer to him as their son, but… They did allow him to sell his female clothing and use that money to get him more masculine clothing, and a nice shirt and tie for church. Shea hasn’t started medically transitioning as he can’t afford it yet, but he’s got hope. Shea was able to save from the odd jobs and get himself a binder to be as flat as he can be. He’s most excited to be at a school that’s never seen him as a female, though it is marked on his transcripts.

  Shea was more of a bookworm than his siblings, more interested in housework and math. There’s so much clarity in numbers that it was very comforting to him. He always felt that cooking was practical math, and that’s one of the reasons he started to work on his cooking skills, with timing and measurements, it’s exciting to learn new recipes. Shea wasn’t surprised when he was marked a submissive, though it made more sense when the world saw him as female, but he’s happy enough to be a male sub, His home life didn’t change too much except that his mother spent more time focusing on teaching Shea how to be a homemaker, the perfect spouse. Shea was always grateful that his mother spent that time with him, as he feels more prepared to go to finishing school and explore his options.

  Shea gulped. Today is the big day. The First day. He rubbed his face, sitting up in his bed, his PJ shirt, a Mickey Mouse shirt he took from his father, clung to his frame, the boy was slick with sweat. Nervous energy bubbled in his chest and he took a deep breath, getting up from the twin bed, he shoved his hair and shoved his hair back off his forehead. ‘Let’s go’ he told himself and moved into the shower, turning it on and quickly jumping in, making sure to ignore his reflection. He stood under the stream of water, letting it run down his face. He opened his eyes and stared at the wall. The first day of school. Shea grinned, so excited to be at this new school where he can be himself. Shea giggled at the word. HImself. He was finally able to say that around his family, sure they flinched. Let them. Shea nodded and left the shower, grabbing his towel and wrapping himself and rushing back to his room. His first-day outfit, he’s had it picked out for ages. Its simple, but he looks so manly in it. He has to wear it. Shea turned away from his mirror, wiping the water off his body and getting dressed, Binder, undies, pants, undershirt, button down, socks, shoes. Perfect. Shea looked at himself, a smile spread over his face, there he was, Happy, male, male, male. It’s still unreal to him that his parents allowed him to buy the clothes he wanted.

  Leave the house. This is the first time he’s been ‘all male’ out of the house, normally he wears hoodies and sweats. But today he’s going to be himself. He’s going to be Shea. Shea Evans, a son, and a brother. Shea stood outside, looking at the campus, so happy. Shea grinned and moved his backpack higher on his back and nodded. It’s nice. Shea took a breathe and started to move. A first class of the day, a first class of the semester. He’s so happy to be here. Shea couldn’t help it but walk a little taller than normal. Surely, this year could only get better and better.
