There's something heartbreaking about the fact that mice cannot hear human voice and neither can we hear theirs because our hearing and voice chords operate on different frequencies.

We talk to them but they just can't hear that they're cute and beautiful and little wonders, or alternatively little rascals when they just nibbled a hole in your shirt while playing with you.

They're quiet for us not because they don't talk to us but because we cannot hear them. Laboratory recordings have found that mice not only make plenty of sounds but they actually sing.

But the frequency is too high for us.
