SmartShop!
I don't know about countries outside the UK, but over here supermarkets are currently encouraging customers to use a service called 'SmartShop'.
Essentially how it works is they give you a tiny scanning device that you may use to scan your items and put them in your shopping bag as you go.
Which is great for lifters because it means putting items directly in your bag is no longer suspicious.
But to prevent you from just pretending to scan items, the device makes a very loud beeping noise every time you scan one, so obviously just slipping something into your bag with no 'beep' sound will still look like criminal activity.
But!!!
Something that I realized today was that when you use the touchscreen on the device to cancel an item, the scanner doesn't make any sound. So you can go around the store scanning everything, then just as you're about to check out (you do this by going to a self checkout machine and linking it to the scanning device, the self checkout downloads you cart and then you pay there as normal) you can just delete the most expensive items from your cart and save money! There's no weighing involved so the machine can't actually verify what's in your bag.
So long story short, I paid Ā£12 for a Ā£82 shop, saving Ā£70 š³
Honestly one of my favourite methods. But! Stores will now do random checks, where they have to rescan a set number of items (usually between 5 & 15) to make sure you have scanned them, if they find even one item is missed they will rescan the whole shop for you. Staff are meant to check at the bottom of the bag (Policy is actually called BOB at tesco) for un-scanned items, but most dont; especially if you have a tightly packed bag. From experience I've noticed staff don't tend to scan duplicate items, so if I'm buying 2/3 boxes of cereal bars, I'll only scan one and then pack each box in a separate bag (I'm not sure if the quantity shows up on their scanner, but it would be kinda sus if they scanned one, their scanner showed I scanned say "2", but there's just 6 boxes all sitting together). Some scanners allow you to increase the number of items via the touch screen, so usually I scan one, and then pretend to play around on the screen to "add multiples". I have an old battered insulated shopping bag for cold items, there's a small tear on the inside lining which is great for hiding smaller items. I like to rearrange items in my bags anyway so they are balanced and don't have heavy items on top, which is a great opportunity to h!de items
As for not beeping, I usually pretend to scan items (Press the scanner trigger and read near the barcodes) there's normally enough other people around that someone else is beeping to cover your lack of beeping. Anyway, I would suggest trying it out a couple of times first without l!fting to see how your local store works, how frequently random check happen and to figure out the vibes of the staff ; are they kinda lazy; are they super thorough; Does the store have LP/ security in the self-scan / scan as you shop area? (I find morris0ns tend to have s3curity watching over).
I want to add that store checks aren't always random, in some stores the system is set up in such a way that you are automatically checked when they detect you have a certain number of products/type of product or are above a certain amount. Other stores base their checks around the activity in the scanner. I'm not from UK, but a major supermarket in my country is known to have AI software which detects suspicious behavior in the scanner. I've experienced that I got checked every time I deleted a lot of items. They printed out the history of my scanner and then went to compare it to what I was buying. So be careful with that.
Any info on EU šŖšŗš§¬ girlies pls post your experience with these stores. i hit one of these so far and wanna test more

EUROPEAN SHOPS LIST WITH TIPS
I kept seeing lists like this for USA/ UK/ Canada & Australia but never for Europe. Like whole Europe, so here we go. Keep in mind that every shop is different, this is based on my OWN personal experience. Scoop your local shops before.Ā
also. iām still a baby lifter so lol
rating based again on my own experience and my local shops.
1- very easy
10- very hard
Super/ Hypermarkets
AUCHAN 2/10 - cameras only in electronics part. Love to lift make up from there, i conceal while walking towards beverages/ snacks. RFID tags on some make-up, but can easily be peeled and eventually be stick to a random carton box somewhere. Canāt do walkouts.Ā
Carrefour 3/10 if you donāt go for make-up. - in my local one, the make up section has its own towers and checkout. Itās good for non-make-up small items. Cameras only in electronic section. Canāt walkout.
Kaufland - 5-6/10 pumped up with cameras everywhere, I did not try to lift from there.
LIDL - 5-6/10 same as above.
Make-up/ drugstores
D&M - 4/10 I didnāt lift from there, but someone i know did. Plenty of cameras, didnāt spot a blindspot, Iād conceal while walking.
Douglas - 6/10 I got sussed so fucking hard years before I started lifting. I assume itās pumped with cameras. I woudnāt try if I woudnāt have experience.
Sephora - 8/10 My local Sephora is pumped with cameras and LP. I woudnāt.
Clothing
H&M - 2-3/10 if you have magnet. magnet tags. Unattended changing rooms, the changing rooms have a lot of clothes in it. Iād go when itās busy.Ā
Berska - 3/10 hook tags. Same as above.
Stradivarius - 4/10 hook tags. LP is quite insistent.
Pull & Bear - 3/10 hook tags.Ā Ā
Sinsay - 1/10. Guys, I canāt tell you how grateful I am for Sinsay. My first lift was there. My local sinsays have carton tags withĀ āalarm securityā and thatās all. No RFIDs. No hard tags. No LP. Even not cameras my dudes. If you know when to go (my favorite time is Friday - Sunday afternoons.) you will find busy SAs, unattended changing rooms full of clothes! Itās basically all you can eat in lifting form!
TerraNova - 2/10 hook tags. The SAs seemed pretty uninterested.
Zara - 4/10 hook tags. LP walking IN the shop.
LC Waikiki - 3/10 hook tags. The shop is quite big, the changing rooms are unattended.
Special category for
Jumbo - 1/10. Carton tags with āalarm securityā, nothing else. Go when busy, conceal while walking
Please add if you know more!!! Also please donāt rb outside the community!
european lifters pls follow me, especially those im NL!!!! I may add on to this later if i remember more
stores:
$ubdu3d: 2/10, requires a magnet. Employees mind their business and dont count. Stores are usually quite small so i recommend to conceal in fitting rooms. In my store the employees dont really react when an alarm goes off.
when taking haul pics is the most exhausting part
