Hello friends. So my Dad has been working on a film about our friend Rob. Rob Morsberger was a genius at music. A fantastic song writer who has been aptly compared to the likes of Randy Newman, and Tom Waits.
A few year ago, Rob was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him 19 months. Inside of that 19th months, Rob became the "most prolific motherfucker" you could imagine. He completed several albums, worked on collaborations with members of the Crash Test Dummies, and maintained a full gig schedule, playing with guys like Marshall Crenshaw, and members of Steely Dan.
My family with the blessing of Rob was able to document those final 19 months of his life. The results are "A Gesture and A Word". It is a project I cant really divorce myself from emotionally, but I can confidently say as I watch it come together in its full linear form, it is fucking incredible. It cuts deep across a lot of things, coming to terms with our purpose when faced with our place in 'the great whatever', and the smaller things that are infinitely more complex-- family, friendship, the compulsion to create something from nothing-- or something from everything. Also, its filled with tunes and performances from one of the greatest song writers you've never heard of.
So now the ask-- if this project sounds like it is of interest to you, please help support the IndieGoGo for "A Gesture and a Word", any little bit helps and is appreciated. And if you don't have anything to give, please help us spread the word along-- and even if you don't do that-- check out some of Rob's tunes on spotify-- listen to the cut "Ghost Before Breakfast", listen to "Relatively Blues", and then listen to EVERY SINGLE SONG on "Chronicle of a Literal Man"-- it might take a second to catch on, but once you get it-- damn, you'll really get it.
Thanks again, and here is the link to the IndieGoGo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-gesture-and-a-word-rob-morsberger-documentary
