(No spoilers : a few words about Transformers One for those who haven't watched yet)

In a few hours, many of y'all (who is american) will have the privilege to watch transformers one .

I will warn you..... you will cry. Perhaps you already know, but, yeah. As a guy who has already seen it twice, you will not stop crying and will leave the theater ugly crying talking about how precious it was.

The only two complaints I have about this masterpiece would be 1-its too short, and 2-it's so quick. It left me craving for more and so sad about having to wait for a sequel (i hope there's more than a sequel though. I really need more of this)

Whether you're a new fan or a life-long fan, or not a fan at all, i can assure you, you will either just like it OR will treasure it with your soul.

Your Megastar is the only Megastar I can tolerate, and the sole reason is because your art tastes so good (also your characterization of the characters is so deep and cool)

my secret is that there is, IMO, a truth of tenderness that exists in the characters’ thematic and philosophical cores that typically gets written out and around for a much more simplistic and convenient narrative—personally, I believe that if you want to look at the characters with any degree of humanizing depth, you have to acknowledge that they are deeply important to eachother, and there is a much more dynamic interpretation that exists beyond the need for them to exist solely to reaffirm eachother’s’ viciousness.

it’s why shattered glass pretty much always has a very “romantic” outlook on them, despite the fact that you can say many aspects of their personalities are unchanged (see: one of my biggest creative inspirations)

my belief about the matter is that if you approached the characters and their relationship with this level of humanity in mainline canon (obviously instead of the shallow, indulgently cruelty we get), you would get a more interesting, dynamic, and altogether more complete interpretation of the characters as a whole—and you would also get something that is probably even MORE romantic than Shattered Glass, because there IS something tender at the core, there.

at the purest and most complex we see them they’re two incredibly guilty people with an isolatingly cynical perspective who ultimately keep coming back for eachother because nobody else is going to. there’s something sweet and sad to me about two people creating a special hell to share not because of inflicted violence or trauma, but because, ironically, the first time they’ve ever learned to care about someone else in a selfless way was when they finally outran shame and accepted that you can be tainted and evil, but be loved

but the joy of something so inherently incomplete and messy in its unifying philosophy like transformers is that you can find something interesting and meaningful in just about any angle and interpretation, and if nobody is giving you what you want to see you might as well make it yourself! I have a lot more thoughts on these characters and their thematic importance to eachother but I’ll keep it unsaid
