September 2003....
Three and a half hours left, he thinks to himself as he looks up from his Career Development Course binder. Being an “Elite Gate Guard” in Korea had its perks mainly you don’t work any post other than the main gate. It also had its downfalls mainly after 11 p.m. curfew no American soldiers were coming through the gate just the Korean military. He had about five months left on his 12 month tour in Korea which was good because he missed his younger sisters, Shay-Shay and Ce-Ce. He couldn’t wait to get back stateside to see them again, being that the last time he had seen them was a year ago when he boarded the bus to go boot camp.
The knock on the visitor’s Center door snapped him out his daydream and back to reality. “Who is it?” he asked “Major Womack.” “What in the world” the only time he had seen the Commander was during Commander’s call now here he is along with the flight chief. He snaps to attention and offers a post briefing still confused about what is going on. “At ease” the Major says then “the First Sergeant needs to see you.” Damn, what I do now he wonders. His flight chief tells him that he needs his weapon before he goes back to the squadron.  “Oh shit it is serious I’m being relieved of duty” goes through his mind as he walks outside the patrol vehicle.
The feeling of dread washed over him as he entered his Commander’s office and saw the First Sergeant and the Chaplin sitting there. “Airman Cannon, I hate to have to tell you this but your Mother passed away early this morning.” “What, I just spoke to her what are you talking about” was his reply. “I’m so sorry” he repeated. It was at that point the walls in the room started to close in and he couldn’t breathe. “I gotta call my sisters.” “This is the base Chaplin” the First Shirt interrupts as he introduces the Chaplin standing beside him. “I’ll leave you two to talk.” “I’m Captain Hawkins she introduces herself and I’m not even going to pretend I know what you’re feeling right now, lets talk.” Talk? I just found out my Mother died and you wanna talk is what went through his mind. “Ma’am, I have to call my sisters now.” “I understand” she says as she hands him a phone card. “I’ll be back when you’re finished. He was so upset he couldn’t even dial the numbers correctly. Finally after several tries the phone rings and his stepfather picks up. “WHAT HAPPENED” was the first thing he said once the phone was answered. “Ant, I’m so sorry” were the only thing he managed to get out. “What happened, I left her with you, you were supposed to be taking care of her.” “Let me speak to Shay-Shay.” “Ant, mommy is gone” she cried into the phone.  His sister Ce-Ce couldn’t even speak she just cried and that’s what really got to him. Just hearing the pain in his sisters voices is what hurt the most. “When are you coming home” Shay-Shay asked. “I don’t know yet imma find out now.” After calming them down the best he could under the circumstances he hangs up the phone as the Chaplin walks back into the room. For the next hour or so she tried to get him to open up and talk about what he was feeling but his was spinning and he couldn’t think straight. Finally he asked “can I go back to the dorms now?” She understood and gave me her card with a “if you ever need to talk call me whether its while you’re at home or when you return to Korea call me if you need anything………….to be continued
Will Veterans start to be treated better?
I hope some the outrage that these National Anthem protests at least results in better treatment of Veterans in this country, real talk. For all the “disrespecting The Flag and the people who fought for that flag” talk, some Veterans aren’t treated particularly well. Veterans are celebrated for one day, a day which is shared with car dealerships, furniture stores or any other company piggy-backing off of the day to make a profit. Meanwhile there are Veterans that are homeless, Veterans that are suffering from mental diseases and Veterans that have taken their own lives and, or the lives of others because they didn’t get any help but these are the people we’re concerned about. So, will this outrage result in better treatment for Veterans?
So I found out almost two weeks ago that my coworker, who became like a sister to me over the years, divulged some personal information about my life to someone she knew I didn’t like AND that bitch told EVERYBODY in my department!! And it wasn’t no basic shit either. It was some stuff you only share with people you feel like you truly trust. She was one of those people to me and I her.
I want to drag this chic all up and through this office but I need my job!
I’m thinking about something strategic and petty but then I’m also thinking about letting it go and letting kharma do her thing.
I'm thinking strategic and petty. You work with her so you know all the things she doesn't do well, the things you may have covered for her on. Let her think that you will continue to do those things, don't tell her you will do it just imply it. Say things like "I'll see what I can do to help." This way you're not committing yourself and when they don't get done it falls back on her and you can sit back and admire your work.
What’s tea sis?
His son will be fine I'm sure Ray Lewis has taught him how to jig his way back into good graces.

Flint water crisis
“Mich. Health Director, 4 other Officials charged with Involuntary Manslaughter for their roles in Flint’s water crisis.” Good at least people are being held responsible. I only have a problem with the involuntary manslaughter charged against Michigan Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon his charges should be a little more serious.  Involuntary manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice, either expressed or implied. Nick Lyons apparently knew about this issue as far back as Jan 2015 and didnt notify the public until a year later. According to Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette “Lyon” exhibited gross negligence when he failed to alert the public about the deadly outbreak and by taking steps to suppress information illustrating obvious and apparent harms that were likely to result in serious injury.” The charging documents also claim that Lyon “willfully disregarded the deadly nature of the outbreak,” later saying that he “can’t save everyone,” and “everyone has to die of something.” Lyon “willfully disregarded the deadly nature of the outbreak,” later saying that he “can’t save everyone,” and “everyone has to die of something.” That sounds like malice both expressed and implied. Why is he not being charged with 2nd degree murder (any intentional murder with malice aforethought, but is not premeditated or planned) with a side of depraved indifference ( state of mind of one showing no sense of moral concern for others, and acting without regard for the lives of others, and unquestionably blameworthy.) Bill Schuette I’m holding you personally responsible for the outcome of this.
Yet what we have now is another possible debt and possibly another long term conflict, without congressional approval.
“Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results all talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!”
This was a tweet by Donald Trump in reference to John Lewis saying he is not a legitimate president…… “All talk, talk, talk - no actions or results…” obviously he does not know who John Lewis is. Allow me to explain who he is. John Lewis is often referred to as one of the most courageous persons the civil rights movement ever produced. This man a member of Congress since 1987 by the way has spent his life fighting for equal rights and protecting civil liberties. Remember the march to Montgomery from Selma Alabama to secure voting rights in the state you know “Bloody Sunday?” Mr. Lewis along with the 600 or so “peaceful, orderly” protesters were viciously attacked by Alabama state troopers. Despite the numerous arrests, and beat downs he experienced he still remained an advocate for nonviolence. The man has been given so many awards, and medals I can’t even list them all. He was instrumental in getting the fair housing act of 1968 signed into law. Trump you should be familiar with that law you were sued under it after all. “….spend more time helping and fixing his district which is falling apart…..” You mean the same district that houses GA Tech and Emory University? Sounds like that district is doing fine to me. In the words of NAACP President Cornell Brooks “…by disrespecting Lewis, Trump had "dishonored Lewis’ sacrifice & demeaned the Americans & rights, he nearly died for.”

"Our democracy won’t work without a sense that everyone has economic opportunity." "Because of you, by almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place than it was when we started" "Understand that democracy does not require uniformity." "Yes we can turned into yes we DID." "After my election, there was talk of a post-racial America. Such a vision, however well-intended, was never realistic" “Our democracy won’t work without a sense that everyone has economic opportunity.” "If we ignore "the children of immigrants, just because they don’t look like us, we diminish the prospects of our own children." "No foreign terror organization has successfully pulled off a terror operation in America in the last 8 years."
Coat drive at work was a mega success Thank You to everyone that came by and dropped them off. Too many of you to name but it's greatly appreciated.
Wells Fargo Farce
In addition to John Stumpf going down for this Wells Fargo scandal there's also a couple other depts that need to be investigated. The SEC should be number one on the list. A complete overhaul. You're the "Securities and Exchange Commission" this is what you do "...protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation." You were derelict in all of that. Nobody knew what was going on? It's either ignorance or incompetence whatever the reason you should be gone. Any stockbroker that traded any of Wells Fargo shares needs to investigated for contributing to fraud I know you knew what was going on your series 7 license was on the line you wouldn't play with that. All of your clients that saw Wells Fargo stock rising and called you ask you about it and to buy shares what did you tell them? Probably not the truth. Your license should be revoked. Badically there's a couple people that need to be sitting in front of the House Panel right along with Stumpf explaining they're actions.
To be. Or not to be?
I have asked myself this question countless times over the past month and a half, is the long distance/international relationship I am involved in even worth it. Does the potential I see out outweigh the apprehension I simultaneously feel? It really all comes down to trust; do I trust her? Do I want to trust her? The answer is simple NO, this is based on the fact that she has already showed me that her word doesn't mean anything. Its so real that if she told me the sky was blue I would have to go outside and look for myself because it might be night time. Ex in my ear talking shit, I had to block her 1. because it is inappropriate to talk to her considering my situation and 2. everything she was saying is true I didn't want to hear it though. Simple questions I couldn't answer like “if your’e in a relationship why am I the one your’e talking to right now?” “why haven't you two gotten married yet?” I didn't know what to say to that so I blocked her. I know what your’e thinking “damn at least she is showing effort.” Should I stay or should I go?
As I stand at the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC I can barely contain the excitement and hope for the future that I feel. As I look around at some of 250,000 plus in attendance and the signs they hold with the messages “we demand voting rights, we demand decent housing and we march for jobs for all  its obvious that we share the same sentiment. We are all here for one reason demand voting rights and equal opportunity for African Americans and to appeal for an end to racial segregation and discrimination. Standing there waiting for Dr. King to take the reach the podium my mind drifts away to the wonder of “what it will be like to viewed as equal and not a second class citizen in my own country. What will it be like to have my civil rights protected and defended instead of violated and disregarded?” The roar of the crowd interrupts my daydream as Dr. King approaches the microphone flanked by his closet advisers. This is it history in the making. He starts “I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation. Five score years ago a great American in whose symbolic shadow we stand today signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beckoning light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.  But one hundred years later the Negro is still not free. One hundred years later the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination..........”
The more he speaks the more I am starting to realize his dream and cant wait to see it come to fruition.
