And he lost the Shimmer Core that powered his technology to boot. His old friend Blazing Wolf got him a a job at SDN as he tried to put his life back together. He's glad for it but the depression is biting hard.

For some reason the former villain in SDN's Legends program has taken an interest in the old man. He's not sure why. She's an irritating kid but she makes coming into work interesting.

But she's decided he belongs to her now.

I like how they created a play of meanings here, because Vi hears what she wants to hear, and Silco hears what he's used to hearing. But Jinx means something completely different. This is the answer to a question posed somewhere in the middle of the story: what is family? What is home? That's what family is. People who choose you. Silco chooses Jinx. Therefore, Jinx chooses Silco. Vi doesn't choose Jinx; Vi gives her a chance to be convenient for her again, and then she might become her sister again, but that's not certain. Never give a chance to people who "give you a chance" to live up to their standards. Choose those who choose you. I think they can be sisters again, but only if Vi can see her own mistakes and apologize for betraying her. But she thinks she's right about everything. That's why she ruins everything.
