Avon Canal. This one was inspired by a school trip many years ago. A glorious ride on a barge with my school pals then we hit the gift shop hard for coloured erasers and rulers. Great place to holiday if you're looking for peace and quiet!

Alnwick Castle. One of my favourite paintings. I love painting afternoon light and the warmth in the sky on this one reminds me of the golden hour in late summer.

Progress. Not too far from the end now. I like the movement in the water and the rocks but the background and foliage needs work.

Bit more depth in the tree and some work on the little bridge thing. Grass looks a bit straight so need to tweak that a bit. Pleased with the water so far. #art

Base shadow of the tree in. Kind of wish I hadn't put the tree in now, lol. Will build up with different levels of dark and lights over the next few sessions. Base colour of the water in but needs highlights for depth. #art #artist

Background and texture of the water coming together now. Will need to be careful doing the final photo as easy to overexpose an image like this. Still think the grass needs more variety of colour in it. #art #artist

Lights and darks starting to take shape. Not keen on the colour of the grass though. Looks almost a cliche colour for grass. Going to work some more hues in there. Base water sorted now so will start building up the highlights. #art

Moving toward end game here but still a lot to do. The tree foliage is the biggy but water still needs some work and the light needs to hit the bridge and the hedge more. Might pull the hedge back too. #art

Coming together. Still haven't been brave enough to start the tree! It's recognisably Stamford though. I'm enjoying working with Naples Yellow. It's a perfect base for the stonework. #art

Worked with the light a bit more but it still looks back lit so that's the project for this week. Think we need to see the different levels of water now too as that will start to give the painting some movement. #art
