wanna be fit but wanna be asleep.
i think the hardest part about finding a job after college is actually applying to positions.
you look up positions that you may find interesting and look at the expectations and qualifications. you realize you don’t meet them all. you’ve spent so much time working part-time jobs, but that retail and customer service experience doesn’t meet the standards of some entry-level positions. you start to judge yourself harder and think there is no way you are going to accepted for this position. you aren’t good enough to work here. you’ve wasted too much time. you get caught up feeling hopeless..
i think the hardest part about finding a job after college is overcoming your own fears of rejection.
for someone who loves sleep, i do not sleep enough at all
School starts on September 4th and I am both dreading and ecstatic for school to begin. I mean I am ready to get my life moving forward and actually do something with myself.
For those of you who don’t know I graduated high school in 2010 and was attending university in the Fall of 2010. I moved out and found an apartment with my friends. For the whole semester I wasn’t really too happy with everything and would hate going to classes, I was very anti-social, and would skip a majority of my classes. Around November or December my mom had come to me asking that I move back in because she needed help getting my niece back from child services. Already hating university and almost depressed with my life, I decided to take her up on that offer. I stopped attending all my classes and only showed up for my final exams. I passed 2 exams and failed 2.
Being a freshman and, quite honestly, a little lazy I never officially withdrew from my Spring semester. I really didn’t know how to just stop going to school, so I simply didn’t. I had already taken my refund check and just didn’t attend classes. Which was probably the biggest mistake of my life.
For about a year and a half, I have not been in school at all. I worked most of time to pay rent to my mom and none of it went to school. Since I didn’t attend school in the Spring, I was forced to pay back the refund check I had taken. My loans started coming in because I hadn’t been in school for awhile and I began to literally panic. I knew I wanted to go back to school, but I didn’t know where to begin. But with the help of my boyfriend, who was beyond the best thing to happen to my life, I got on the right track to go back to school.
So here I am starting school in the Fall semester of 2012. I literally have a GPA of a 0.75 (with all the Fs from the 6 classes I failed) and am probably going to be on probation for 2 years. But with all the hardships I have been through, I don’t have an excuse not to succeed.
As a reminder to myself: I will graduate college and make something better of myself.
It is 2017 and I have finally graduated from Rutgers Newark! I went from a .75 GPA to a 2.854 GPA! It took me awhile to get to where I am today, but I am so grateful that I have made it this far in life.
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my boyfriend (@ereaux) for pushing me to go back to school in the first place. You have shown me that I am so much more capable to achieve my goals then I give myself credit for. I am grateful for all the life lessons that you have taught me in order to become a smarter individual in society. There were so many times I would take your tips when dealing with the financial aid office, my advisors, and even for emailing professors. KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS! RECORD CONVERSATIONS!
Thanks to the friends that I have made through the semesters, especially Azuree, Juan and Sheiva. Without these 3 friends, I probably would have never known when exams were or even bothered to study for them.
I am officially a Rutgers graduate! Now to move forward again..

when your professors gives you complete BS work and then saves the serious shit for the end of the semester. i’m so fucking drained from life and it’s literally almost christmas. wtf man i don’t have time to go to a museum to explain sequential art or write a 5 page paper comparing two interviews. ugh.
Never let me go.
