How to get the ingenue look
Base: Dewy and soft is key. Use cream or liquid based products instead of powers (exceptions can be made for blush. The skin should look bouncy, plump and luminous. Apply highlighter underneath any BB cream, tinted moisturizer or light concealer. If you are brown to dark skin go for a gold/bronze highlighter if you are lighter go for a pearly/rose gold highlighter. For a satiny doll look very very lightly apply a translucent powder on oily areas.
Brows: Keep the brows soft and rounded, avoid having sharply arched eyebrows.
Eyes: For natural shadow, flesh toned or soft colors like brown, peach, caramel, champagne, brick etc. Apply light across the entire lid. For a more glamorous eye look, apply a white, nude. or peachy eye shadow with some shimmer. Or apply the above colors in a matte finish and apply a light shimmer on top. Another option is to apply clear gloss on a bare or nude lid for a dewy look. For eyeliner, puppy eyed liner works best if your eyes are large and wide. If you have smaller, more angular eyes, a classic wing works whether you prefer it thick and old Hollywood-esque or a thinner more subtler liner. Apply white or nude eyeliner in your eyeliner for a wide eyed Bambi look. Alternatively, if using a lighter shadow, apply black or brown liner lightly all around the eye to avoid washing yourself out. Add a small hint of highlighter on the inner corner. For lashes go fro a curling, voluminizing mascara such as Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and apply it outwards. If you want lashes, long wispy lashes are better than the full fluffy ones.
Blush: Cream blush is a great option, but powder also works if you want a soft powdery look. Warm toned blushes work best, especially oranges and orange based pinks. Apply it on the apples of your cheeks for a youthful flush.
Lips: Keep them glossy and plump. Apply a flesh toned lip liner right underneath the bottom lip for a soft pout. Sheer golden browns, sheer earthy browns and soft chocolate browns in soft plushy mattes and satins look best. You can also apply colored glosses or clear glosses on top of lip liner
Nails: Acrylics and press on nails are perfect. Keep the colors soft and pastel, shimmery pinks and whites work great. Keep them mid length to long in rounded shapes like almond. Natural nails look beautiful too just be sure to keep a fresh manicure and healthy nail bed
Bessie Coleman by John de la Vega
Bessie Coleman (January 26, 1892 – April 30, 1926) was the first black woman to earn a pilot’s license. Because flying schools in the United States denied her entry, she taught herself French and moved to France, earning her license from France’s well-known Caudron Brother’s School of Aviation in just seven months. Coleman specialized in stunt flying and parachuting, earning a living barnstorming and performing aerial tricks. She remains a pioneer of women in the field of aviation.
