I was here before the culture became what it is now and I’ll still be here after it dies out. I can’t imagine myself not listening to trance. From the day I was even conscious of music til now. Starting off with import dj cds and “dolphin trance” and some of ATB’s first albums. Miss Jane, Ayla. I love that most trance producers are trying to keeping trance alive purely for passion for the music, rather than selling it out just to get big. I will always love trance.

The scene has changed, I have changed, trance even disappointed me for a few years in between that time. But I've always still kept the love for it and miss talking about it so much.
And holy shit! I miss the Tumblr days. It was a time before your face/name had to be part of some social media influencer identity/brand or whatever. Could just come on here and talk about trance or repost some random shit and find people who like what you like. Even meeting people at EDC 2013 and shit!!! Holy shit. Haven't been back to EDC since then lmao.
I have so many thoughts on trance still. Most people are off Tumblr now. But I still wanna put my thoughts... somewhere? Maybe time to create a new blog and see what happens?

Okay... like I’m not even gonna get into the whole “Armin isn’t even trance anymore” debate (because there is nothing to debate. It is true. Armin is trash now. End of story) ... but like what the fuck LOL okay this wouldn’t even be a good song for any genre. If it were released under any other artist it would get 0 attention. This is pretty shitty.

Before I read this book, I had spent years thinking about what was true to me. And when I picked it up, I was SO surprised to see how I 100% agreed with what I read, genuinely. It was almost kind of crazy. I thought I was the only one.
What can you tell me about B. Kearney and his set live? I really want to see him but I am eager to hear of your opinion, I know you saw him recently so it's worth asking.. I still think he is legit one of the top trance DJs with the early 2000s type of trance..
Hmmm. I think he is a great producer. But there is something about his sets that aren’t very appealing to me! I got kind of bored at Escape when I saw him, I actually ended up sitting down in the grass area.Personally, I LOVE that tech-trance, darker trance sound. But I don’t think I could handle it at that volume for a whole hour, hour and a half. To be honest, I don’t even really enjoy his podcasts. But I think his single releases are *amazing*. I think Simon Patterson is better than Bryan Kearney in terms of live sets, if I had to pick one person of the same genre to see.But if you do decide to see him — let me know what you think!
Above and Beyond: We Are All We Need
Currently listening to the album and man I like Above and Beyond but there is just something about them that isn't really my style... I can see why people really love their sound, but I don't find the vocal artists they choose to sing on their tracks to be very pleasant sounding. I know it adds a different feel and sound compared to most trance songs, but I really just don't like it. I could see why someone would, though. And ever since they did their Above & Beyond Acoustic shows, I don't really like the direction they went in. I think their best era was the Oceanlab era.
Their sound is great and distinct, though. I can see how they've made a name for themselves. The emotions that their songs bring out of you is definitely different from other trance songs... but that "oHHHH MY GODDDD THIS IS SO UPLIFTING I WANT TO KILL MYSELF" feeling I get from trance songs doesn't come out for me when I listen to A&B...
I don't know how to describe it. Perhaps it's less "epic" or just more mellow, calm sounding? Like loungey, I'm-cracked-out-so-this-is-nice sounding. Not a bad thing, just not my style.
The album is still good and worth listening to though. :)

first of all, what the fuck is wrong with people? you must be either straight up stupid OR self-centered enough to CHOOSE being in denial about things like racism, social inequality, or global fucking warming. to say that these things don't exist is probably just a convenience to you, so that you don't have to play your role in the HUMAN COLLECTIVE and FIX so many things that are wrong with this world.

DO YOU FIND YOUR LIFE MEANING IN A SHINY NEW CAR? when so many of our human brothers and sisters are out there suffering the circumstances created by ego and concepts of possession and greed... would you really focus your efforts on materialism and say you are truly happy, knowing these things come at the cost of others out there? if this is you i am also pushing you off my hypothetical island

Defending your culture
Okay usually I don't get into this but sometimes people just really amaze me with these sorts of things...
Lately there's been a lot of hate on Iggy Azalea, pretty much sparked by Azealia Banks saying that she hasn't given back to the culture that is making Iggy famous, and that Iggy is ignorant to how hip hop can never detach itself from a socioeconomic movement. And all these rappers jumping on and saying the same shit and saying Iggy has been manipulating hip hop culture for her own gains, and not appropriating hip hop culture in the way that it should be... and also not being there when the Garner and Ferguson thing happened.
Okay? What do you expect her to do? And you called her racist, and tweeted out things like KKK to her just because she is a white woman in the industry? I don't see what Iggy has done outwardly wrong towards the hip hop community.
She hasn't "given back" to the community that cultivates her career? What, because she's not rapping for the empowerment of black people or underprivileged communities? Hip hop is music. Music doesn't always have to be about socioeconomic issues. As a music artist, why does she have to make any commentary about Garner or Ferguson? To say that you can't detach hip hop from socioeconomic issues is wrong.. because hip hop is also music, and music can still have an aspect of entertainment to it. Why don't all these people attacking Iggy Azalea direct these comments towards *every single black AND white rapper* that use their talent and influence to rap about drugs, money, bitches in 90% of their songs* ? What are THEY saying and doing for the socioeconomic circumstances of underprivileged communities/and black communities? Why are they not being reprimanded? Is it because Iggy Azalea is a white woman? Why is she being attacked for the history of black culture? I don't see where she has done something wrong and I would like someone to actually explain to me what she has said or done.
I don't even listen to Iggy but seriously this just looks like an example of people pulling out the race card too damn quick.
