Several Weeks Later
Eddie rolls over in his bed, catching the stream of light coming through his shades right into his eyes. He flinches, quickly moving to cover his eyes with his hands, using the heels of his palms to rub his eyes awake. He groans gently, wishing he could stay in his bed forever. What else is there out in the world for him?
After a moment, Eddie sits up, running a hand through his hair. He sighs, swinging his legs over the edge of his bed. Another day begins, he thinks to himself, shaking his head at such a thought. He stumbles out of his room, heading towards the kitchen in search of breakfast. Once in the kitchen, he is startled to notice his uncle Wayne sitting at the kitchen table with a newspaper.
“Good morning,” Eddie says, with a soft smile.
Wayne chuckles, turning the newspaper over in his hand. “It’s the two in the afternoon.”
“Oh,” Eddie says. He pulls the fridge door handle open, scanning the fridge for the carton of milk. “Well, good afternoon then.”
Wayne hums. Eddie hears him rustling a stack of paper around at the table. “This came for you this morning.” Eddie peaks around the door of the fridge, carton of milk in his hand. “What is it? I’m not expecting anything.”
Wayne shrugs. “Don’t know, boy. It has your name on it.”
Eddie puts the milk down, trotting over to Wayne. Wayne outstretches his hand, an envelope in his hand. Eddie picks it out of Wayne’s hand, turning it over to see the front of the envelope.
In bright colors and shapes, the envelope says, ‘From: POP Magazine, Friendship Division.’ Eddie’s address in prominent on the middle of the envelope.
Eddie flips the envelope back over, using his pointer to open the flap that has been sealed shut. Wayne stands up, placing the folded newspaper in his back pants pocket. “I’m headed to work,” Wayne says moving towards the door. “Don’t forget to put the milk back before it spoils, because I ain’t buying another one until next week.”
Eddie nods mindlessly, mumbling that he will put the milk back. Eddie’s stomach drops when a letter and another envelope are inside the initial envelope. He chooses to read the flyer first.
Hello!
First, we would like to say thank you for filling out our penpal matching service. We received hundreds of applications, and we look forward to connecting people across all 50 states. We are pleased to inform you that POP Magazine was able to connect you with a penpal. To keep organization and communication easy, we reached out to the penpal you were matched with, Y/N, to write to you first. Included with this letter, we have included Y/N’s first letter. Us here at POP Magazine Friendship Division wanted to make the initial introduction for both of you. However, from now on, you should right directly to Y/N, which you can find her address on the envelope included with this letter.
Through our advanced matching system, you and Y/N matched in several categories. Similar to you, Y/N would say she’s a wallflower, likes to playing board game and listening to music. However, there were several differences between the two of you. She is morning person, and you selected you are a night owl. Her favorite type of music is pop; you selected that you listen to primarily rock music. Instead of matching you with a person that is identical to you, we thought it would be a great experience for participants in this penpal program to learn from others who are different from them. So, use your differences to your advantage and broaden your horizon and knowledge.
We are excited for you and Y/N to create a long-lasting friendship We’ve included a free stamp for you to send off your first letter with.
Love,
The Friendship Making Division at POP Magazine
Now Eddie’s stomach was really turning. He had been matched with a girl? Eddie sat down in the same seat Wayne had been sitting in moments ago. He was feeling lightheaded and nervous to be in communication with a girl. Sure, Eddie had had instances with girls before. There was the time he was partnered with Samantha Kensington in biology and was on first name basis with the young-ish woman at the Gas and Go where he bought his cigarettes and booze. But to become friends with a girl, his similar age, that he would write letters to was a bit beyond him. Despite his nervousness, he used his pointer finger again to open the letter you had sent.
----
You look down at the package of paper that was scattered across your bed. POP Magazine, where you filled out your penpal for several weeks ago, had sent you a letter back. A copy of Eddie’s survey was enclosed, an envelope with a stamp pre-applied and addressed, and letter from the division.
Hello!
First, we would like to say thank you for filling out our penpal matching service. We received hundreds of applications, and we look forward to connecting people across all 50 states. We are pleased to inform you that POP Magazine was able to connect you with a penpal.
We have matched you with Eddie Munson, a fellow 18-year-old from Hawkins, Indiana. To make organization and communication simple, we have selected you to be the first to reach out. Included with this letter is a copy of Eddie’s survey – we suggest you use the information in this to write your initial letter. Once you’ve written your letter, please place it in this pre-addressed and stamped envelope. We will collect your letter and put it in another letter that we, from the agency, will write to Eddie. Eddie will reply directly to you once he receives your letter and you will continue doing so from then on.
Once you review Eddie’s survey, you will find that while you are similar in some categories, you are different in others. While it’s commonly thought that people who are similar in all ways match the best, here at POP Magazine we like to recognize people’s differences and encourage them to explore the unexplored by learning directly from others. Use your differences to your advantage; you never know what you’ll find.
We are excited for you and Eddie to create a long-lasting friendship!
Love,
The Friendship Making Division at POP Magazine
Your eyes stare at the letter in your hands, your brain beginning to trail off with an endless amount of thoughts. You were surprised to learn that you’d been matched with a boy, of which you had little idea on how that would end up for you. You had never had a male friend before, only girls in which you had little common ground with. Your friendships were always short, and you never worried yourself to question why; it’s just the way it was. Now, however, was the chance to start over.
You had always felt like an outcast, never finding anyone that understood you on a deep level. Despite never having many friends, you craved friendship now. You saw this penpal program as an opportunity. Even though you were nervous, what if Eddie didn’t like your first letter and never replied? So many thoughts went through your head.
You go to your desk, pulling your stationary set out from the drawer. How were to you to write this letter? How does one show who they truly are to someone through a letter? How do you be yourself yet not push someone away? You sit for a while, staring at the blank piece of paper in front of you. There feels like there’s a barrier between you and writing a letter and you get increasingly frustrated. You decide to just write:
Hi Eddie,
How are you? POP Magazine told me we’ve been matched for being penpals – it’s nice to meet you! My name is Y/N, and I live in Moses Lake, Virginia. It’s a small town, not much to do here. I see you live in Hawkins, Indiana – what is it like where you live? I know Indiana is known for corn, but that’s about it. Could you tell me more?
Anyway, do you find this weird? I’m writing to you like I know you but I’m not sure you’ll ever reply. I hope you do because by the sound of your answers for the penpal survey, you sound pretty neat. We’re similar on a lot of categories, different in others. Regardless, I’m glad to make a friend. I hope you feel the same.
When I received the letter about who I was matched to be a penpal with, I thought about my own reasons for becoming a penpal with a perfect stranger. My reason, and perhaps I’m being too honest here, is to indeed make a friend, but to talk to someone who doesn’t know me. Kind of obvious, I know but the anonymity is what intrigues. Here in Moses Lake, I feel everyone sees me different than who I feel I am. I’m friends with people that know the old me, a person I feel I’ve outgrown. Now that I’m admitting this, I hope you’ll like me for who I am. As your penpal, I promise to see who you really are.
Sorry if that was too deep. I hope I haven’t embarrassed myself and you understand where I’m coming from. Though, for some reason, I have a feeling we’re going to get a long really well. Jim Morrison once said, “a friend is someone who gives you the total freedom to be yourself.” If you’ll be that friend for me Eddie, I’ll be that friend for you.
Sincerely,
Y/N
--
After reading your letter, Eddie folds it back up the way you mailed it. He had never felt so seen and understood before. Eddie, too, felt severely misunderstood. Everyone at school and in town had labeled him ‘Eddie the freak Munson’ and he has never been able to escape such a title. Not only does that label keep others away from him but it changed the way he viewed himself. Sure, he had a small community of friends whom he plays Dungeons and Dragons with, though he can’t really talk with them. He can’t be vulnerable or honest.
Eddie understood in this moment how desperately he needs to branch outside of Hawkins and broaden his horizons. Could he really find that in his new friendship with you? With these new emotions and thoughts in his heart, Eddie begins to write.
Hi Y/N,
It’s nice to meet you and exchange letters. To answer your question on living in Hawkins, it is a small town much like Moses Lake. Everyone knows everyone and it’s hard to have privacy here. While it’s a small town, quite a lot of action happens here. It’s hard to explain in a letter, perhaps I’ll tell you all about what happens in Hawkins someday. To keep myself busy, I have a little club at my school that plays D&D; do you know how to play? It’s a pretty fun game. I also love music, playing in a small band with my Uncle Wayne occasionally on the weekends. I’m actually trying to start my own band soon.
I agree that we will be great friends. Rest assured, you did not embarrass yourself. Quite the contrary actually. Truthfully, I relate to everything you wrote. I, too, feel misunderstood and I haven’t found a person that I am able to be fully myself with. People at my school view me as weird and I haven’t been able to escape that. It follows me everywhere I go and it’s made it hard to make friends – so, I guess I agree that the anonymity of this penpal program is what I’ve been looking for. I’d like to start fresh with you in hopes that we can have an honest friendship.
So, with that being said, let me ask you some questions (as if we didn’t answer enough questions on our forms haha)! What do you want me to know about you? What have you done this summer? Anything fun?

♡ LOVE, EDDE SERIES MASTERLIST ♡
Y/N, Moses Lake, VA, 1986
With each flip you make of the magazine pages, they echo in you nearly silent living room. You’re bored out of your mind, your summer break turning out to be incredibly uneventful. You had hoped for a more exciting summer, more activity, more action. You very small friend group had deserted you for their own exciting summer plans, leaving you at home – all alone.
You flip the magazine pages aimlessly, your eyes grazing pictures of sleek, tan models, their hair teased up high, bright colored eyeshadow dashed across their eyelids. You sigh, your chin resting in your hand, as you flip each page, your eyes barely looming over the words. You flip once more, your eyes scanning left to right, your eyes grazing down then back up as an ad catches your attention.
“Brand New! Need New Friends? Be a Pen Pal to someone your age, with the same interests, in the United States! Fill out the form in the back of the magazine NOW to sign up!”
You sit up straighter in your seat, your curiosity peaked. You reread the advertisement over again, your fingertips dragging across the glossy page. You wonder if the ad is legit, could they really pair you up with some random person from across the country? You wonder the risks: it could be a creepy person, potentially an elderly man looking to prowl with young woman or, there could be some vetting process in place - you hope.
You thumb to the back of the magazine, finding a cardstock insert places just before the back cover. With gentles and precision, you pull out the piece of paper, flipping the paper over in your hands to get a look at the form. There’s what seems to be like an endless amount of questions, the script incredibly small to fit all the questions on.
‘What’s your favorite color?’ ‘Are you a social butterfly or a wallflower?’ ‘If you were to be deserted on an island, what would be the three things you’d bring with you?’
You raise your eyebrows at the questions as your eyes scanned the page. Seriously? There’s were the questions that would get you a penpal that’s a good match with you? You bite your lip as you look at the form, wondering to yourself what the harm would be to fill the form out. It wouldn’t be bad to give it a shot right? The likeliness of a person replying, and keeping up the gig for a long time, was unlikely. Maybe one letter, maybe two. You shrug to yourself, unfolding your legs to search for a pencil.
You rummage through your family’s junk drawer in the kitchen, locating a broken number two pencil, an envelope, and a half-torn stamp with a sunflower on it. You sit back down on the couch, placing the form on your lap. One by one, you check the boxes of the questions, scribble in a short answer to prompt after prompt.
After your hand cramps up, every question checked and answered, you fold the form neatly, slipping it into the envelope, licking the fold shut, addressing it to the address on the advertisement. You prepare yourself to walk outside, the heat and humidity like a brick wall as you step outside. You hopscotch down the driveway, the blacktop of the street scorching the soles of your feet. In only a few paces, you place the envelope into the mailbox, flicking the small flag up to signal to the mail person that there is a letter to be sent.
You shrug again as you walk up the driveway: No harm in trying to make a new friend, you think to yourself.
Eddie Munson, Hawkins, IN, 1986
Eddie sits across from his uncle Wayne at the small kitchen table inside the dimly lit trailer, both attempting to seek refuge from the scoring sun and intense Indiana summer heat. Eddie sighs as he leans back in his seat, his mind turning over with depressing memories. His stomach turns with the idea that he has to go back to school at the end of the summer, having failed once again, and having to face those that labeled him Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson. Though today was nothing new, another day at home with Wayne, as other kids his age meet up with their friends, weighs particularly heavy.
“What are you sighing for?” Wayne asks from across the table, folding up the newspaper he reads onto the table and tossing it on to the tabletop.
“No reason,” Eddie mumbles, his head dipping down the look at his finger covered hand. He opens and flexes his hands, seeing the paleness of his skin glare in the darkened room.
“Why don’t you go outside, see some of your friends. It’s summer break after all.” Wayne says, picking up his coffee mug, taking a sip.
Eddie shrugs, his eyes lifting to meet Wayne’s for a brief second. “Don’t have any friends.”
Wayne sucks on his teeth, knowing that his nephew was right; he had no friends. Wayne had caught wind of the rumors about what Eddie got up to, the presumptions that he was a devil worshiper, a troublemaker. But Wayne didn’t worry; his Eddie was a good kid. Wayne assumes that his presence only reminds Eddie of his friendless status, and he decides it might be best to give Eddie his space. “Well, you got me, kid.”
Wayne stands up, picking up his coffee mug in one hand, his left-over breakfast plate in the other. “Read that, you might learn something,” Wayne says with a joking tone, gesturing towards the newspaper. “Whole worlds goin’ to shit anyway, don’t know why they have to write about it too.” Wayne dumps his dishes into the sink, his fork clattering against the plate. He saunters towards the back of the trailer where his room is, closing his bedroom door behind him.
Eddie is left to his own devices, his eyes lingering around his living room, landing on to the newspaper his uncle was just reading. Eddie scoffs, picking up the newspaper in one hand. He finds himself pathetic, resorting to read a newspaper to fill his time on his summer off.
Eddie unfolds the newspaper, his eyes scanning the black and white papers. His eyes absorb no information, his senses utterly unimpressed. It’s not until his eyes cross over an advertisement, big bubbly writing catching his attention.
“Brand New! Need New Friends? Be a Pen Pal to someone your age, with the same interests, in the United States! Fill out the form in the back of the newspaper NOW to sign up!”
Eddie hums, his eyes squinting to read the tiny print. Writing to someone across the country that you never met? Eddie had no idea such a concept existed. Intrigued, Eddie rustles the large pages of the newspaper, finding a form occupying one large page. Dotted lines bordered the form, a small icon of scissors suggesting that Eddie is to cut along the lines.
It would be stupid to sign up for such a thing right? Writing to a stranger across the country to send letters back and forth? Though at the back of his mind, and heart, Eddie knew his loneliness was catching up to him, the alienation from his peers becoming isolating. Perhaps it wouldn’t be too bad to put himself out there from the comforts of his own home – to make a friend that didn’t necessarily know what others said or thought about him.
Finding a pen and a pair of scissors with ease, Eddie fills out the questionnaire, cutting carefully on the dotted line. He realizes he needs an envelope. “Wayne? Do we have an envelope somewhere?”
Eddie hears rustling in Wayne’s room, the door cracking open. “The hell you need an envelope for?” Eddie sighs, rolling his eyes at his uncle. “I just need one, okay?”
Wayne snickers, holding his arm out into the hallway, an envelope in his hand. “This is my last one, so it better be for a good cause.”
Eddie shuffles down the hallway, taking the envelope from Wayne, muttering a thanks to his uncle. After folding the form into a trifold, putting it carefully into the envelope, Eddie licks the flap, pasting a crumpled stamp onto the corner. Hastily, he scribbles the address onto the front and walks the envelope out of the trailer as if it’s a prized possession.
The trailer park is quiet today, the heat causing everyone to flock inside, hiding in the shade of their homes. Eddie walks across his front lawn, dirt crunching under his sneakers, as he reaches his mailbox, flicking the small, red flag up to signal there is a letter waiting to be sent.
Eddie pities himself, so desperate that he’s signed up to be a pen pal to a random stranger. However, Eddie feels a glimmer of hope. No harm in trying to make a new friend he thinks to himself.
Moses Lake, VA, 1986 | Flipping through a magazine on a boring Saturday afternoon, a flyer for a new penpal service catches your eye, peaking your curiosity. Open to the idea of having a new friend somewhere else in the country, you opt to sign up - excited to engross yourself in a new friendship.
Hawkins, IN, 1986 | Eddie Munson, alienated by all his peers at Hawkins High for his nerdy interests, is desperate for a friend. Spotting an advertisement for a new pen pal service in the back of his uncle's newspaper, Eddie decides that if he wants to make a friend he has to find someone who has no idea who he is.
After filling out the form, checking the boxes next to all your interests, answering the questionnaire, you and Eddie are matched as new penpals. As the letters and postcards are sent back and forth in the mail, your budding friendship with Eddie begins to turn into something a little more.
CHAPTERS
i. girl at home / loneliness at its finest (prologue)
i loved the steve ‘sister sister’ little fic, it was so cute!!! would u ever think of making something like that a series? like steve getting to know henderson!reader and falling for her while dustin’s like “what??” if not, i understand!!! <3
SISTER SISTER (PART 2) older!steve harrington x college student!henderson!reader
✶ find part 1 here
thank u for your request! so glad u enjoyed it - I'm happy to make a second part! I def will write a part 3 for this blurb at soon just to complete this little story <3.
“Your sister is hot, Dustin. It’s not my fault I want to get to know her,” Steve says, as he lays across Dustin’s bed, tossing a baseball up into the air and catching it swiftly before it smacks into his face.
Across the room, Dustin sits in his desk chair, his body crumpling. “Ick,” Dustin says loudly, a sour look on his face. “You could have all the girls in Hawkins, and you choose my sister?”
Steve shrugs, lifting his head up to look at his friend. He shrugs. “The heart wants what it wants.”
Dustin runs his hands over the contours of his face, shaking his head. “I really don’t understand what you see in her, Harrington. My sister isn’t even human, she’s basically an alien from Mars!”
Steve laughs, tossing the old baseball next to him on the bed. Steve sits up, swinging his legs to the side of the bed. “Speaking of your sister, I think it’s time I pay her a visit. Be right back.” In response, Dustin scoffs, shaking his head as he watches his friend dart out of his room with eagerness.
Ever since Steve saw you a few weeks ago, he’s been lingering around the Henderson house a little longer than usual. Lately, it’s been extra hard to catch a sighting of you, as if it’s Steve’s luck. He merely has been catching a glimpse of you exiting the bathroom, crossing the hallway to reach your room, or he hears the soft hum of your voice entertain your own friends the floor below where you and Dustin’s rooms are. He has yet to get you alone.
Steve turns down the hallway, walking the handful of paces to reach your bedroom. He’s pleased to find the door halfway open, the sight of you laying on your stomach across your bed, the pages of a glossy magazine in your grasp, beckoning him past the entrance of your doorframe, further into your room.
Suddenly Steve feels awkward, unsure of how to announce his presence without startling you. He clears his throat, causing you to jolt in your position on the bed, turning your head to look over your shoulder. You raise your eyebrows at the sight of Steve in your room. “Hi,” you say, slightly confused.
“Hey,” Steve says, shifting his weight between his sock-covered feet where he stands in your room. “How have you been?”
You laugh softly, gracefully flipping yourself on your bed to face Steve. “Busy, but fine. How about you?” Steve was obviously into you; you could tell from your first interaction with him. He was boy-ish and from your time in high-school, only a year younger then Steve, you knew the rumors about him all too well.
Steve shrugs, running a hand through his hair. In his movements alone, you can tell he’s tense and nervous, much different from how confident and arrogant he was on the first day you met him. “I’ve been fine too. Henderson and I have been hanging out a lot.”
You smile, your eyes lingering behind Steve to see if your brother will appear. “That’s good, he needs his friends, especially after the whole Eddie tragedy.” You shake your head, thinking about how distraught your brother was for so long.
Steve hums. “Yeah, Henderson is great, a really good kid.”
Silence thickens between you and Steve, your bedroom starting to feel too small. You clear your throat awkwardly just like Steve had done moments ago. “So..”
Steve’s eyes search for anything to discuss with you. His eyes spot the overturned glossy magazine you had been reading before he walked in. The back of the cover has a large, printed ad of Farah Faucet spray, glowing orbs circulating the can of hairspray. “That hairspray is great,” Steve says gesturing towards your magazine. You glance over at it. “It really holds the hair in place.” Steve smiles sheepishly, realizing that he’s just exposed that he uses Farah Faucet hairspray. Could he be more of an idiot?
You laugh, amused by Steve’s comment. “Is that so?”
Steve opens his mouth to reply but at the same time Dustin’s loud voice travels from his room to yours. “Harrington, get back in here!”
Steve rolls his eyes, and you snicker to yourself. “I guess you have to go.”
Steve backs out of your room, nearly hitting the door frame with his shoulder. “I guess so – but this,” he says gesturing between his body and where you sit on your bed. “Is to be continued.” And he slips out your door, down the hallway towards Dustin’s bedroom.
You shake your head to yourself once Steve leaves your room. Steve Harrington has always been a character, always creating chaos whereever he goes. You can't deny that you have had a crush on him in the past, enjoying watching him build a relationship with your younger brother.
When Steve first started showing interest in you, you wanted to be resistant. You remember the drama that occured between Steve and Nancy as well as countless other girls in Hawkins. You contemplate this thought, thinking about how you don't have any time or space for foolishness in your life. But everything doesn't have to be so serious, right? With school, work, and dealing with your rambunctious younger brother, perhaps Steve could bring a little fun to your life, a little excitment...
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
Steve Harrington is incredibly affectionate. He is a huge fan of holding hands, hugging, kisses on lips and cheeks, and cuddling. He is such a huge fan of affection that if you don’t immediately go to hold his hand or kiss him when he thinks you should, he is quick to ask if there’s something wrong or if you’re mad at him. Physical affection is the gateway to Steve’s heart. However, he shows affection in many other ways such as giving you compliments.
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Steve is a great best friend. He is constantly looking out for those he cares about, making sure they always have what they need and are safe. He is constantly lending a helping hand and never lets his friends fail. However, Steve can be flakey sometimes, often being late to hang outs or opting to spend time with his current girlfriend. Your close relationship begins by one of Steve’s friends introducing you due to your similar personalities. Immediately, you and Steve click, spending countless hours together, always making each other laugh.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
As stated before, Steve is a huge cuddler! In this big crazy world, especially in a place like Hawkins, Steve’s comfort zone where he feels zero judgement or social pressures is in between your arms in either of your beds. You love to lay in Steve’s bed because it’s bigger and his parents bought him an expensive mattress a few months ago. You feel like you just fall right into it and get swallowed up by the softness. However, Steve loves to lay in your bed, all your colorful sheets and blankets cheering him up. It doesn’t hurt that every sheet smells like you, and he’s enveloped in your scent. He swears he could die happy right there in your little bed. Steve loves to dwarf you, always wanting to be the bigger spoon. He tucks his arms around you, pulling you firmly against him. Though he can’t deny that he loves being the smaller spoon too, feeling your arms gently press against his body as you try to grasp him all against you.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
Steve wants to settle down as soon as possible. Ever since he was a young boy, he imagined having an adult life that is nothing like his parent’s or his childhood. He imagines having a wife someday who he loves and is infatuated with. He imagines waking up every morning beside her, planting kisses all over her face until she giggles herself awake. They’d make breakfast for themselves and their six children, yes six, and work together to get them off to school and themselves off to work. Though he imagines having a good enough job to allow his wife to choose whether she works or stays at home. Steve wants to be an active participant in his marriage and family, helping with chores, cooking and childrearing. He plans on putting his all into his family.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Steve has a bleeding heart. He falls in love quickly, all of his emotions starting and peaking quickly. He falls in love often; some days he wonders if that’s a flaw in his personality because wearing his heart on his sleeve seemingly always comes back to bite him. While the tag ‘player’ is attached to Steve, it’s not an accurate representation of who Steve is or how he views his partners. Because Steve falls in love quick, he sometimes dates people who aren’t a good match, thus leading to break-ups. It’s never easy; Steve feels guilty for weeks after the breakup. He tries to be gentle, placing the blame on him, not you. It guts him to see tears collect in your eyes, the way your lips quiver in an attempt to cover up your disappointment and sadness to see Steve leave your life. He would give you one last hug, feeling your arms wrap around him. Then he’d place one last kiss on your forehead and then step back, hoping you find someone better to love you.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
As mentioned before, Steve has no issue with commitment. Now that he has found you, he envisions marrying you as soon as he is able to. He wants to wait to make sure that he’s fully prepared to provide for you, which means a different job other than Scoops Ahoy. So even though he hasn’t proposed yet, he’s just waiting for the perfect time in his life to ask you to marry him. In an alternate world, Steve would have married you the first day he met you.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
Steve is a very gentle person. Though he has a big personality, he always expresses his emotions and thoughts in a gentle way, especially with you. He always wants to be a source of calm for you; thus, he always is a gentle being with you. Physically, he is also very gentle. He never plays rough with you, though you try to get him to sometimes. He prefers to give you loving touches only such as gently stroking his fingertips through your hair, watching your eyelashes flutter shut in the little pleasure it gives you. He loves to give you soft kisses, gently squeezing your hand three times to tell you ‘I love you.’ You are precious to him, and he treats you as such.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Steve is a huge hugger! He loves to give ‘bear hugs’ where he engulfs you between his arms and squeezes you tight against his chest. Steve will mostly give gentle hugs that are full of love and meaning and sometimes you have to specifically request him to give you a bear bug, which you especially love. You love feeling the warmth of his body against yours and you love how his scent fills your nose. It makes you calm and at ease; you feel safe and loved.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
Steve has the world’s biggest heart, and he falls in love fast. To understand Steve is to know that he isn’t a player, but he falls in love deep and fast. Steve tells you that he loves you shortly after you begin dating, knowing his feelings for you are real and very important to him. It’s undeniable to Steve that you and he are meant for each other, fitting together perfectly. He wasn’t a tad bit scared to reveal his deep and serious feelings in the time that could be considered ‘too soon.’ Steve knows what he wants and it’s you.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
Ohhhh boy. Steve had a jealousy streak, and you aren’t even mad about it. It’s cute to see Steve get all worked up but only because you know there’s actually nothing for him to be jealous over. It could be a way another guy glances at you or if one gets too close, it’s enough to make Steve over-protective and step in. When Steve is jealous, he gets extra clingy and needs a little more re-affirming that you only have eyes and love for him.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
You adore Steve’s kisses. They’re soft and gentle, full of love and meaning. He loves to lean over, kissing you gently on the cheek, your neck, specifically behind the ear and of course he loves to kiss your lips. Steve equally loves kisses from you, and he loves them on his cheek but mostly his lips.
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
Before he befriended his group of small children who follow him around like lost puppies, Steve was terrible with children. Like seriously. While he’s known he’s always wanted to be a father someday, he knew that someday was not anytime soon. But, since he’s been the unofficial caretaker of numerous young kids, he’s starting to think maybe he can handle fatherhood sooner and be better than he expected.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
Steve loves to pick you up from home, taking you in his car to your favorite diner so he can treat you to pancakes and stacks of French toast. Then, he likes to have you tell him what you want to do, sometimes a stroll through downtown Hawkins, sometimes gathering your friends together for an early afternoon hang out. If you’re staying over at his house, he typically likes to make you breakfast himself, dancing with you in the kitchen while the eggs cook and tapping your nose with a whip creme covered finger.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
Nights with Steve are calm. Evenings are filled with cooking together, laughs filling the kitchen. Then you’ll sit with Steve on his couch, cuddled up beside each other, watching various shows and movies that he is recommended by his friend Robin. Then you’ll take a shower together, which is full of caring for each other and washing each other’s hair. Some evenings you opt for a relaxing bath; candles lit alongside the tub. And lastly, you both get under the sheets in your bed, or Steve’s, and you cuddle together. Before sleeping, sometimes Steve gets a burst of energy and tickles you until you scream and giggle or you’ll whisper to each other about your hopes and dreams before drifting into sleep.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
Steve is an open book, from the beginning of your relationship. Steve says everything all at once, wanting to be fully transparent and honest with you. Sometimes it takes a discussion with you to help reveal things to Steve about himself, but he always finds discussing things with you as a way to learn more about himself and tell you more about himself. He never minds telling you about himself, all the good and the bad. He knows you love him and care for him so he’s never too worried about being honest with you.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
Steve is quite easy tempered, rarely getting ‘angry’ with you or others. There’s only a few people that can get Steve angry, but he tends to keep away from them. Steve is patent, often using humor in tense situations. It’s a quality many who know Steve wish they possessed.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Steve remembers everythinggg about you. Literally everything. You are the apple of his eye, and he will never neglect to listen intently to every word you say in hopes to learn more and more about you. Steve especially loves to remember your favorite things and put it all together for you. For example, Steve remembered that you love pepperoni pizza and horror movies, so he set up a little date for the two of you when you came over one evening. You were delighted when you stepped into his room and saw the bed perfectly set up for the two of you to relax on and your favorite pizza, with two plates beside it, resting in the middle of his bed. On the screen was an old horror movie, a favorite of yours that you mentioned to Steve several weeks ago, ready to go. Steve’s curiosity about you and his ability to remember things warms your heart and sets Steve apart from other guys his age.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
Steve thinks about this moment often. It was a blustery winter day in Hawkins, the type of weather where you wear a jacket, scarf and hat all bundled up near your face to shield the sharp, cold wind. Your glove covered hand grasped Steve’s as you hurried down the sidewalk in downtown Hawkins to reach Benny’s Burgers. The streets of Hawkins were silent; it was as if you and Steve were the only ones out. If it wasn’t for Mrs. Wheeler who called out to you with a wave from across the street, you would have thought you and Steve were the only ones that lived in Hawkins at all. With an exhausted huff, you and Steve entered Benny’s where only one other table was occupied. You sat down at a table, letting Steve order and pay for your food. You had been here once before with Steve, and he managed to remember your order right away. Why this memory is so precious to Steve is this was the moment where Steve began to fall in love with you deeply. When your food arrived, the laughing began. Steve couldn’t help but make you laugh, seeing you smile with every silly thing he did made his heart grow bigger and bigger. Steve made jokes and told the funniest stories and put his French fries in his mouth to make himself look like a walrus. You shared your food, passing your different burgers back and forth to each other. Your laugh bounced off of the walls, your smile radiating to Steve who sat across the table. You held hands across the length of the table, Steve’s fingers caressing the back of your hand, your fingers and knuckles. You, too, had your heart thumping against your chest. You adored Steve and it was clear that the feeling was mutual. To Steve, this was the beginning of everything and while this was your third or fourth date with each other, he was falling deeply in love.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you?)
Steve is SO protective. Especially with all the danger that Hawkins comes with, he is always sure to protect you from any impending danger. He never wants to be in a position to lose you. Steve always makes sure you have coins for payphones in case you need to call him. He always make sure you get home safely and that you’re with people he knows so that you’re never alone. Steve promises to himself, and you that he will do everything in his power to make sure you stay innocent and are forever safe.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
Steve puts immense amount of effort into dates. With the pennies he earns at Scoops Ahoy, he makes sure to take you out as if he’s a millionaire. Even if it’s not an anniversary, Steve loves to spoil you and take you out for dinner, a movie or even a little shopping trip. On anniversaries, Steve makes sure to express his love and affection for you by making little gifts for you or buying you your favorites chocolates from the bakery and candy shop in downtown Hawkins. He loves to spoil his baby. In general, Steve is big on helping you with whatever you need. Often you find yourself not even needing to ask him for help as he anticipates your needs and is always there for you.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
Steve is very hard on himself, feeling as though he’s failing those around him. He has to remind himself to be kind and to be patient and you always re-affirm to Steve that he’s a great person who does great things. You know that his self-criticism stems from his parents harshness, but you know Steve shouldn’t feel this sort of way about himself and tell him so when he gets critical of himself. He’s King Steve after all.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Steve has been known to be vain, checking the height of his hair or spending an extra minute planning his outfit. However, he never crosses the line of being self-absorbed. He likes to present well to you and the world.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
Steve would be lost without you. Truly. Steve sees you as the missing puzzle piece to his life. He finds you as a balance that keeps him on the right track and level-headed; there’s no way he could screw up in life with you by his side. Steve works to be a better person and to make better life choices because you inspire him to grow as a man. He adores you beyond words and would definitely feel incomplete if you left his life.
X = Xtra (a random drabble)
How Steve asks you out:
The sun shines just perfectly on your face as Steve gazes into your eyes. He leans on his arm as he lays beside you on a blanket in Hawkins Park. With his other hand, he reaches out and brushes your hair out of your eyes, his fingertips grazing your skin. "You're so beautiful you know?" He says, a small smile appearing on his face. You blush lightly, diverting your eyes away. "Thank you, Steve." Steve laughs lightly, watching you look across the park. Steve's heart beats as he feels his thoughts come to his mouth. "If you're willing, I want you to be my girlfriend, y/n." Relief comes to your body, and you finally hear the words you've wanted to hear from Steve for weeks. You nod and smile, "Yes, definitely!"
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
Steve dislikes people who are self-absorbed. There’s nothing more unattractive to Steve than someone who doesn’t consider others or is willing to put their needs second in order to help another person. He thinks being thoughtful, considerate and caring are qualities that his partner must possess in order to fit him and the life he hopes to lead.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
One habit Steve has while he sleeps is that he talks in his sleep. So far, you’ve heard Steve mumble about you while he’s fast asleep. You were lying next to him, listening to his soft snores when suddenly they slowed to a halt and “You’re so pretty y/n” mumbled off his lips. You smile and chuckle to yourself, shaking your head at Steve’s cute sleeping habit.

“Thank you for doing business with Munson’s Timeless Tune-Up’s, we appreciative your loyalty,” you say, a friendly smile on your face. The customer across the register from you, a burly man with a thick beard and wiry glasses, nods and takes the change you hold out from your hand. He turns, nods in Eddie’s direction who stands next to you, and saunters out the door.
Once the customer is gone, Eddie claps lightly. “Well done, y/n.”
You flush, heat creeping up your neck. You’re well into your first week at the Munson’s garage, and you’ve become efficient in using the cash register – all thanks to Eddie’s help and guidance over the last few days.
Each day, like clockwork, Eddie comes in during lunch time and places himself beside you in the extra chair that sits behind the register. He places his lunch bag on his lap, which consistently holds unhealthy junk food, and kicks his feet up onto the counter. From there, he asks you about your day, enquires about the schedule for the rest of the day, and then questions you about yourself, aiming to get to know you better. Each day, you’re surprised that Eddie continues to come back, yet you welcome his company, nonetheless.
Your conversations are filled with friendly banter and laughter, sharing little snippets of each of your own lives with each other. You sit on your stool behind the register, the office slowing to a hum with no customers during that time of the day, and you watch Eddie in all his beauty munch on his lunch gracefully. His arms are defined, veins popping from underneath his tanned, glistening skin. His nimble fingers work quickly to open the packaging of his snack-cake, which he consistently offers to you.
Today, however, Eddie came into the office early, watching as you ring customers out and talking with you in between.
“Did you just leave Wayne to do all the work?” you ask, glancing over at Eddie as you neaten the tabletop of the register. Eddie seats himself in his chair, opening his lunch bag, and begins to rummage through it. Eddie shrugs, glancing back at you. “The car he’s working on needs it’s turn signal fixed and that’s all, and he can handle that on his own.”
You hum, nodding as you place yourself on the stool. You lean your back against the counter, aiming your body towards Eddie. “I’m happy to have your company again. The office can be so dull and quiet.”
Eddie smiles, his dark, brown eyes sparkling against the low lighting in the office. “I used to hate sitting in the office for even just a second. Now, I love being in here and the only thing that’s changed is that you’re in here now.” He winks confidently, then looks back at his lunch he unfolds on his lap.
Your heart thuds against your chest, every nerve in your body frayed and on edge. You open your mouth to reply, with what answer you aren’t sure, but then close your mouth when nothing comes to mind.
Eddie has had flirtation on his tongue since the moment he walked into the office on your first day of work. It started with small comments, a few compliments, and has escalated to brushing touches of the skin. Your stomach is filled with butterflies the second you walk into work, smelling the light scent of Eddie’s cologne that lingers wherever he goes. You check out customers in between your daydreaming of him and you constantly sit on the edge of your stool behind the register, waiting to catch a sighting of him.
Just then, Wayne saunters in, his white t-shirt covered in dark marks. “Look at that,” he mumbles, a light smirk on his face. “Sitting there like two peas in a pod, as if neither of you have no work to do.”
Eddie chuckles. “What can I say, Wayne? I enjoy talking to your new employee very much.”
You feel heat creep up your neck, surely a light tint of pink beginning to cover your cheeks. You look down at your lap, not able to meet Wayne’s eye.
Wayne hums, taking a few steps up to the counter where you sit. He leans over, placing his elbow on the tabletop. “What do you say, y/n? Do you enjoy talking to Eddie just as equally?”
You look up, meeting Wayne’s eye. You nod, glancing at Eddie who’s looking in your direction, curious to know your answer. You smile softly, “Eddie is alright.”
Wayne grunts a sound of approval. “Well then. Since I’m the only hard worker around here, I guess I’ll leave you both to it.”
After Wayne leaves, you and Eddie catch each other’s eye and snicker softly to yourselves. “Guess he’s not so into us getting along,” Eddie says, kicking his feet up against the chair next to him.
You shrug. “As long as we get our work done, I think we’ll be just fine.” You offer Eddie a little smile and shuffle papers that have scattered out of place on the tabletop.
Eddie huffs lightly and pushes himself out of his chair; it creaks underneath his touch and you’re afraid for a moment that the chair has seen its last day. “I should get back to work anyway.”
You do your best to hold in the frown that you feel forming on your face and nod. “Right, of course.”
Eddie shuffles around and makes his way to the door that leads to the garage where Wayne works. “Oh, by the way, there’s this party happening this weekend, Friday, and you should come. It’s at Steve Harrington’s house. Should be a good time.”
Your heart surges with excitement. Eddie Munson inviting you to a party at Steve Henderson’s house? You try to suppress your surprise and excitement. “I’ll see if I’m free.”
Eddie nods, turning the doorknob in his hand. “Hope you are.” He winks, and slips through the door in the garage, leaving you alone in the office.
