You know, tarot wouldn't even exist as it does today without Muslims, Jews, and black women. The history of tarot relies on Islamic societies popularisation of playing cards, Jewish Kabbalistic influence (even if it shouldn't have been borrowed/appropriated, we can't deny it is in there), and a Jamaican artist with an inspired vision which has become the very standard of all our decks today. I feel that this is something we can so often forget. Sure, rich Europeans popularised custom made playing cards, and esoteric organisations in Europe devoted themselves to popularising tarot as a divinatory tool, but we wouldn't have tarot as it is today or at all without the work and influence of Islamic cultures, Judaism, and black artists. Appreciate the history of tarot, because it relies on the beauty of history and diversity, and the amazing work of cultures and people so often kept down by white-washing and erasure. Let's not erase the history of tarot. Remember, appreciate, and adore the journey of the art.
Nature photographer Curt Fonger stumbled upon a bobcat sitting atop a 40 foot tall Saguaro cactus in the Arizona desert. The animal was apparently taking refuge from a nearby mountain lion.
