Late entry for jamweek25 day 6 : guilt
Since jamweek is sadly over, I decided to work on the days I didn't complete in time. I'm starting out of order, tackling those I have a clear idea of first and working backwards ! Normally my serie on Ao3 will feature them all in order as it should have been posted during the week.
Mind the tags, people !! This is a very upsetting entry !
interpret that as you wish, I think these boys deserve happiness together at the very end🥹
Also i've been fully converted into the cunty sleeve agenda as i was lining in and added the sleeves in and I like to think he got a new fit sewn some times during his stay at Jobst's camp. Sam approves of his new look obv.

If this was a reunion at Suchdol:
Following my personal hc of John being as Jobst camp when Sam and Henry rode there and John having to let Sam go back into the fray again a few days later;
I think John would follow after the army a few hours behind. Officially, he's there on business, to have a word with jobst to continue scheming their next steps in the aftermath of the victory, but his heart and body headed to suchdol for Sam.
As he's passing through the carnage, something he isn't used to, he's not a fighter, but he finds it more difficult as he fears he would see his beloved's face amongst the dead.
He's relived to find Sam outside of the castle, in a less bloodier field of dandelions, alive, unharmed.
Before he knew it, his legs moved, and he's running towards a surprised Sam, tumbling into him as they both go down into the bed of soft grass and flowers, sunlight warming their embrace as they shared a heartfelt kiss in the fields of victory.
coughs. sniffs. and if you're a real angst connoisseur like myself, this reunion could be set in the afterlife...

Sam did not make it out of the praguers camp. John and Sam would never get the chance to rekindle after their fight at Kolin, before Sam initially departed to the Den. John would never get to apologize, and blames himself for not insisting harder for Sam to give up the path of revenge and just stayed in Kolin with his loved ones.
And then John goes to Suchdol after the battle to meet up with Jobst and... finds Sam at the gallows. He takes him home to sara in kolin. And he never recovers from losing Sam. He took the guilt and the pain of having to live on without him as his punishment for his sins.
Eventually tho, not long after, the consequences of his work, as he grew less and less sharp, caught up to him. Even Jobst couldn't save him this time and John.. John didn't want to be saved.
When he dies too, he wakes up in a field of dandelions and rolling hills as far as the eye can see. For a second he's filled with dread. He's always assumed that he'll find Sam after he's left the living... but what if Sam didn't want to be found by him. What if- A familiar voice calls his name, cutting through his spiraling, and he looks back to see the love of his life.
And oh how John has missed him. He scrambled through the field, nearly tripping on his own boots, undignified for a noblemen, but that didn't matter when Sam was within his grasp. He crashes into him, knocking them both down. He found Sam warm. Real. And when he laughed beneath John, he could feel the vibrations of his joy through the armor beneath his fingertips.
Finally, they were together again at long last. In each other's arms. As it's always meant to be. Eternally reunited.
Initially I planned an art for Day 7 with all of Sam's family (aka Sara, Jehuda and John) hugging him upon his return to Kolin, but on my way home from work I had a ✨vision✨ of this exact pose
I never draw kisses, and I thought I wouldn't be able to do the pose properly, but I'm really happy with the result and proud of myself 💖
And yes, this is the art I accidentally deleted 🫠 saved only by my habit to send finished arts to myself so that I can have them on my phone
