Dream Catcher
Ambitiously I feel these thoughts of mine Daring to see the next sunrise with bliss They look for the day when I can buy coffee with poems Trading this paper for a drink, rather than the coins at hand
Maybe I was born to speak endlessly, with ink and breath On and on and on do I dream of my rhymes However off-key they sound, I hear music However unmatched each letter is, I see a complete puzzle
Dare I dream for my next grand design? It'll only get a few thumbs up and chuckles Or maybe I should ask the devil for a better bargain Since this writer's hand earns more slaps than salutes
It's a sad and wasteful time, writing a fancy letter on the page Most people forgot that the famous authors were ragged The only silver dollar they earned was after lying charmingly As though they were a guaranteed diamond in waiting
So I'll dream and dream again, waiting for my pen to strike Until the black venom wakes me back to the next light of day But until that day comes, I'll see myself smiling in the stars Swimming by the moonlight with a poem for my coffee
