The DJ Crazytimes guy has a new one parodying the micro genre “famous white musician gets really into African music while lacking any actual cultural context”. There is a full-length video but it lacks the translation subtitles which are like the entire joke for me

Gerald V. Casale, 2026: "Just Do It"
You know how some musicians are subtle? Jerry is not one of them.
Hip Hop Impresario Sir Mix a Lot created a 1990 PSA for the American Library Association where he urged people to go to libraries and read books, featuring the California Raisins.
"Read about stars and cars/play electric guitars/the cops that work hard/patrolling the boulevard/the Heavyweight Champ and his craziest bouts/Books/Check em out."
Considering his silly best known novelty song ("Baby Got Back" which came out a year after this PSA and made him a star) it is surprising to note that Sir Mix a Lot is a well known proponent of literacy and is a big reader himself, who often collaborated with the American Library Association with songs like "Baby Got Books." He is also a well known supporter of LGBT issues, at a time this was not common in hip hop.
Joe Dowell, 1961: “Wooden Heart”
A weird jerky organ cover of one of Elvis’ stupidest songs, this version has the distinction of being the Billboard 100 #1 song with the least listens on YouTube and Spotify
#i HAVE to include context as a classical musician who is *almost*in these spaces #this is from the schleswig-holstein music festival #(presumably faculty????) #which is probably The most selective classical music festival in the goddamn world #these people are some of the best you will ever hear on their respective instruments #this was literally posted originally by the goddamn schleswig-holstein music festival #these are their dudes #classical musician me is being shocked by seeing them on tumblr #y’all don’t even know how insane this is #y’all are just enjoying chickens playing saxophone and cornet (via @clockworkouroboros )

Velly Joonas, early 80s: “Stopp! Seisku Aig”
Incomprehensible blend of genres here. Estonian synth folk reggae organ funk?

Everyone go look up the song nasa banned from space
Don't forget to play it loud as fuck
please….listen to the whole thing. And imagine that you are IN SPACE in 1973 and you JUST woke up. Every time you adjust…it escalates somehow.
This song had to be designed in a lab for the sole purpose of fucking with astronauts. whoever added it to the NASA playlist was a genius.

if pure helium existed hundreds of years ago there'd be entire subgenres of opera which make specific use of it to reach inhumanly high pitches. Like castrato but gas... gastrato. or something
