With a Dupree pedigree, you're almost guaranteed to have some trace of musical talent and the two youngest siblings, Colin and Christie don't lead us astray on that front in their indie-folk-pop duo Merriment, but neither do they trot out a rehash of what's been done before, with their album Sway expanding the style and sound their family's perfected so well by bringing the often ethereal quality inherent in Eisley down a few notches without limiting themselves to too narrow of a sound.

After an intial meeting during the recording process of Collective Soul's 2007 album Afterwords unearthed just how much rhythm guitarist Dean Roland and audio engineer Ryan Potesta had in common and led to the formation of alternative-rock duo Magnets and Ghosts and the release of their 2011 album Mass, they're following it up with the be born EP set to come out November 10th and have given fans a first taste of what's to come with the song "Drug Money".

This Providence is one of my favorite bands and also one of the first whose shows and music I covered in writing here on MusicMurmur, so when they went and remained quiet for the past couple years I sorely missed their excellent musical output, but that longing was recently quelled by vocalist Dan Young's first official release as Lonely Benson, the "Every Night" single.

With the influence and inspiration of her homeland in the Northern Territories of Canada a constant thread in her pop-folk music, there's a noteworthy organic quality to Mary Caroline's songs that when paired with striking visuals often lifted from her own life make for a combination of sight and song that'll leave a lasting impression on your mind.
